Flynn Gold Unveils Expansive High-Grade Gold Targets at Golden Ridge

Mining By Maxwell Dee 4 min read

Flynn Gold has significantly expanded its gold exploration footprint at the Golden Ridge Project in NE Tasmania, revealing a large undrilled gold anomaly at Grenadier and reporting high-grade trench and rock chip results. Diamond drilling at the Golden Ridge Adit is complete with assays pending, setting the stage for further resource definition.

  • Grenadier Prospect gold anomaly extended to over 1,000m x 500m with assays up to 18.6g/t Au
  • Trenching confirms continuous gold mineralisation over 130m strike at Grenadier, which remains undrilled
  • Diamond drilling completed at Golden Ridge Adit with assay results awaited
  • Soil sampling expanded to test unexplored granodiorite interiors and new IRGS targets
  • Tasmanian government co-funding supports ongoing drilling programs

Expanding the Golden Ridge Gold Footprint

Flynn Gold Limited (ASX: FG1) has delivered a compelling update on its flagship Golden Ridge Project in Northeast Tasmania, revealing a substantial expansion of gold targets and promising high-grade assay results. The company’s recent exploration efforts have notably enhanced the prospectivity of the Grenadier Prospect, an area previously undrilled and outside the initial JORC Exploration Target published in November 2024.

Using the innovative UltraFine+ soil sampling technique, Flynn has extended the gold anomaly at Grenadier to an impressive 1,000 metres north-south by 500 metres east-west. This anomaly is characterised by exceptionally high soil assays reaching up to 105 parts per billion (ppb) gold, complemented by coincident arsenic anomalies indicative of intrusive-related gold system (IRGS) mineralisation.

Trenching and Rock Chip Highlights

Follow-up trenching at Grenadier has confirmed the presence of gold-bearing quartz veins over an open strike length of 130 metres. Noteworthy trench intervals include 2.3 metres at 4.2 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, with a high-grade subsection of 0.4 metres at 11.0 g/t. Rock chip sampling in the area has yielded exceptional grades, with assays up to 18.6 g/t Au, underscoring the prospect’s potential for significant mineralisation.

These results are particularly significant given that Grenadier has never been drilled, presenting a fresh and compelling drill target. The continuity of mineralisation along strike, supported by soil and trench data, suggests the potential for a sizeable high-grade gold system that could materially enhance the Golden Ridge Project’s resource base.

Diamond Drilling Advances and Pending Assays

In parallel, Flynn has completed a four-hole diamond drilling program totaling 665 metres at the Golden Ridge Adit, targeting known mineralisation zones. While assay results are still pending, this drilling aims to validate and extend the geological model underpinning the project’s Exploration Target. The drill rig has since been relocated to the Link Zone Prospect to test a previously intersected 33-metre interval grading 0.5 g/t Au, further advancing resource definition efforts.

Importantly, Flynn has secured co-funding from the Tasmanian State Government’s Exploration Drilling Grant Initiative (EDGI), which has subsidised half the direct drilling costs, reflecting strong institutional support for exploration in Tasmania’s mineral-rich environment.

Broader Exploration and Strategic Context

Beyond Grenadier and the Golden Ridge Adit, the company’s soil sampling campaign has expanded to test the main granodiorite body and other prospects such as Adelphi and Big Penny. These efforts aim to uncover additional IRGS-style gold anomalies within Flynn’s extensive 167 km² tenure in Northeast Tasmania.

Flynn’s Managing Director and CEO, Neil Marston, emphasised the rapid advancement of Grenadier towards a drill-ready target and the broader potential for Golden Ridge to evolve into a substantial high-grade gold project. Tasmania’s reputation as a globally significant mining jurisdiction, combined with Flynn’s methodical exploration approach and government incentives, positions the company well to unlock value from this under-explored region.

Looking Ahead

Flynn plans to continue trenching at Grenadier to test strike extensions and further investigate soil anomalies through detailed mapping and sampling. The pending assay results from the Golden Ridge Adit drilling will be pivotal in refining the geological model and guiding subsequent drilling campaigns. Collectively, these activities underscore Flynn Gold’s commitment to advancing Golden Ridge as a cornerstone asset in its portfolio.

Bottom Line?

With high-grade surface results and drilling underway, Flynn Gold is poised to redefine the gold potential of Tasmania’s Golden Ridge.

Questions in the middle?

  • What will the upcoming assay results from the Golden Ridge Adit drilling reveal about the deposit’s grade and continuity?
  • How extensive and economically viable is the undrilled Grenadier gold anomaly once drilling commences?
  • Can Flynn leverage further government incentives to accelerate exploration and resource development at Golden Ridge?
