Terrain Minerals Advances Wildflower Gold Drilling with New High-Priority Targets
Terrain Minerals has launched Stage Two of its RC drilling campaign at the Wildflower Gold Project, expanding its exploration with two new targets and reinforcing optimism for a significant gold discovery. Concurrently, the Lort River Project drilling has intersected key bedrock conductors, marking progress in nickel-copper exploration.
- Stage Two RC drilling commenced at Wildflower Gold Project with ~11 holes planned
- Two new targets added: W3 structure and Mirja parallel mineralised structure
- Stage One results pending from 8 holes totaling 1,182 metres
- Lort River Project drilling successfully intersected priority bedrock conductors T1 and T2
- Larins Lane Gallium Project Stage Two drilling includes metallurgical sampling
Wildflower Gold Project: Expanding the Search
Terrain Minerals Limited (ASX: TMX) has officially commenced Stage Two of its reverse circulation (RC) drilling campaign at the 100% owned Wildflower Gold Project, located within the Yalgoo Mineral Field of Western Australia. Following the mobilization of the RC rig and crew from the Lort River site to the Smokebush area, the company is intensifying its exploration efforts with approximately 11 new holes planned, totaling around 1,368 metres.
This next phase builds on the initial Stage One program completed in December 2024, which comprised eight holes and 1,182 metres of drilling. While results from Stage One remain pending, Terrain has already incorporated two additional high-priority targets into Stage Two based on field observations: the W3 structure, situated between the Cota and T16 targets, and a newly interpreted parallel structure at Mirja, where historic artisanal workings have been identified.
Geological Rationale and Historical Context
The Wildflower Project sits within a highly prospective greenstone belt known for shear-hosted gold mineralisation, with geological features and historic data suggesting significant discovery potential. The W3 target aligns with the orientation of known shear zones hosting the Rothsay Deposit, a notable gold resource nearby. Similarly, the Mirja target’s historic workings hint at previously untested mineralisation zones. These additions reflect Terrain’s adaptive exploration strategy, leveraging both new data and historical insights.
Previous reconnaissance air-core drilling in September 2024 revealed encouraging supergene gold mineralisation at the Cota (T16W) target, including intercepts such as 9 metres at 1.17 g/t gold from 30 metres depth. Historic drilling at Monza and Lightning prospects also returned high-grade gold intersections, reinforcing the project's promise.
Lort River Project: Progress on Nickel-Copper Front
Meanwhile, at the Lort River Project, Terrain has advanced its exploration of priority bedrock conductors identified through airborne electromagnetic (VTEM) surveys. Three RC holes have tested targets T1 and T2, successfully intersecting the modelled conductor plates. These targets lie on the edge of a mafic or ultramafic intrusion within the Albany-Fraser Belt, a region known for significant nickel-copper deposits such as the Nova-Bollinger ore bodies.
Samples from these drill holes are currently en route for analysis, with results expected to provide further clarity on the potential for nickel-copper sulphide mineralisation. The Lort River Project’s strategic location near Esperance and its geological similarities to established deposits make it a compelling asset in Terrain’s portfolio.
Larins Lane Gallium Project and Broader Exploration Pipeline
In addition to gold and nickel-copper targets, Terrain is progressing Stage Two drilling at its Larins Lane Gallium Project, including twin RC holes planned for metallurgical sampling. This project has already demonstrated broad zones of gallium mineralisation, with potential to develop into a significant clay/oxide-hosted resource.
Terrain’s diversified exploration approach spans multiple commodities and jurisdictions, with ongoing applications for new tenements in Australia and interest in global opportunities. The company remains open to commercial discussions regarding non-core assets, signaling a flexible strategy to maximise shareholder value.
Bottom Line?
As Terrain Minerals deepens its drilling programs and expands target zones, the coming assay results will be pivotal in defining the next phase of growth for its gold and base metal projects.
Questions in the middle?
- What will the assay results from Stage One and Two drilling at Wildflower reveal about the scale and grade of gold mineralisation?
- How might the Lort River drilling outcomes influence Terrain’s positioning in the competitive nickel-copper sector?
- Could the newly identified Mirja and W3 targets lead to a breakthrough discovery that reshapes the Wildflower project’s resource potential?
