Austin Metals Limited (ASX: AYT) has delivered encouraging assay results from its December 2024 drilling campaign at the Brunswick Hill and Mt Sandy prospects, part of the Austin Gold Project in Western Australia's prolific Murchison greenstone belt. The recent reverse circulation drilling has confirmed multiple zones of high-grade gold mineralisation, reinforcing the project's potential to host a substantial orogenic gold system.

High-Grade Intercepts Highlight Scale and Continuity

At Brunswick Hill, assay highlights include an 8.0 metre intercept grading 2.7 g/t gold, featuring a standout 2.0 metre section at 10.3 g/t Au, alongside other significant intervals such as 6.0 metres at 3.5 g/t and 5.0 metres at 2.4 g/t gold. Notably, a 1.0 metre intercept returned an impressive 17.1 g/t Au. These results confirm thick, high-grade quartz-carbonate vein zones with strong sulphide alteration extending over approximately 500 metres of strike, with mineralisation remaining open both along strike and at depth.

Similarly, the Mt Sandy prospect has demonstrated robust continuity of mineralisation along a north-south trending shear zone exceeding 550 metres in strike length. Drilling returned multiple zones of gold mineralisation, including 10.0 metres at 0.6 g/t Au and 6.0 metres at 1.0 g/t Au, with higher-grade intervals associated with quartz-sulphide veining. The presence of multiple mineralised zones within individual drill holes suggests complex structural controls that could host thicker or higher-grade shoots.

The mineralisation at both prospects is structurally controlled and shares geological similarities with nearby historic and operating gold mines such as Westgold’s Comet and Pinnacles deposits. At Brunswick Hill, gold is associated with arsenic and bismuth anomalies within banded iron formations and mafic volcanic units, providing valuable geochemical vectors for exploration. The Mt Sandy prospect’s mineralisation is linked to brittle-ductile shear zones with quartz-sulphide veining, typical of orogenic gold systems in the region.

Importantly, Austin Metals has yet to conduct multielement soil surveys at these prospects, presenting an opportunity to leverage arsenic and bismuth pathfinder elements in future soil sampling programs. Planned follow-up work includes targeted drilling to test strike extensions and depth potential, alongside ground geophysics such as induced polarization and magnetics to refine structural interpretations and identify new targets.
