Taiton Resources Limited (ASX:T88) has delivered a promising update on its Kingsgate Project in New South Wales, revealing Phase 2 sampling results that underscore the high purity of quartz present. The samples, collected from seven known quartz pipes within the project area, exhibited silica (SiO2) content ranging from 94.13% to an impressive 99.97%, with total impurities measured as low as 300 parts per million (ppm). This level of purity positions Kingsgate as a potentially significant source of high purity quartz (HPQ), a critical material for various high-tech industries.

Strategic Next Steps: Metallurgical Studies and Market Positioning

Building on these encouraging assay results, Taiton is set to commence metallurgical test work aimed at understanding the processing characteristics and potential product specifications of the quartz. These studies will inform the company’s strategy to target market segments within the HPQ sector, including the possibility of direct shipping ore (DSO) to accelerate revenue generation. The company is actively engaging with laboratory and off-take partners to tailor sample collection for these tests, signalling a clear intent to move swiftly towards commercialisation.

Expanding Exploration and Resource Definition

The Kingsgate Project spans two granted exploration licences covering 294.1 square kilometres, located approximately 20 kilometres east of Glen Innes. Historically, the area was a notable producer of molybdenum and bismuth, with mining activity dating back to the late 19th century. Taiton’s recent efforts have focused on quartz pipes associated with these historical workings, with the current sampling program providing a robust foundation for further exploration.

Looking ahead, Taiton plans an expanded exploration program in 2025 aimed at establishing a JORC-compliant resource. This will include regional exploration to identify additional quartz pipes that could enhance the project's economic potential. Concurrently, the company is negotiating land access to explore further mapped quartz pipes, underscoring its commitment to resource growth.

High purity quartz is a critical input for the semiconductor, solar, and optical fibre industries, with stringent purity requirements driving demand for premium sources.
