Australian Rare Earths Limited (ASX: AR3) has announced encouraging assay results from the first 10 drill holes of its 2024 inaugural drilling program at the Overland Project in South Australia. While the uranium grades reported are low, the assays confirm the presence of uranium mineralisation, validating the down hole gamma and portable XRF (pXRF) measurements that guided the drilling.

Drill hole OV002 was particularly notable, intersecting uranium concentrations up to 20 times higher than adjacent background levels across two separate one-meter intervals. This anomaly underscores the potential for higher-grade zones within the largely unexplored sedimentary system.

Geological Model and ISR Amenability

The results support AR3’s geological model targeting sedimentary-hosted uranium deposits within the extensive ~4,000 km2 Overland Project area. With a ~5,000-meter drilling program underway through March 2025, AR3 plans to test multiple targets, including those within the recently farmed-in Sheer Gold tenement (EL6678). Assays from the remaining 15 holes drilled in 2024 are expected in the first quarter of 2025, which will further inform exploration strategies.

Technical Rigor and Quality Assurance

The company employed industry-standard Air Core drilling techniques, with rigorous quality control protocols including field duplicates, standards, and laboratory checks. Samples were assayed using mixed acid digest and ICP-MS methods at Bureau Veritas in Adelaide, ensuring reliable and comprehensive elemental analysis.

Downhole gamma logging and pXRF screening were integral to the sampling process, providing immediate field data that correlated well with laboratory assay results, enhancing confidence in ongoing exploration efforts.
