Advanced Soil Sampling Reveals Promising Gold Target

Hamelin Gold Limited (ASX:HMG) has announced a compelling new gold exploration development at its Ularring Gold Project, situated 130 kilometres northwest of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia's Eastern Goldfields. Utilizing the CSIRO-developed Ultrafine® (UFF) soil sampling technology, the company has delineated a discrete gold anomaly extending over 500 metres along a 4-kilometre segment of the Ida Fault Zone, a major structural corridor known for hosting multiple significant gold deposits.

This anomaly is particularly notable given its proximity, just 18 kilometres south, to Ora Banda Mining's Riverina gold operations, underscoring the prospective nature of the region. The soil sampling program, completed in late 2024, employed a rigorous methodology with samples collected at 400-metre line spacing and infill at 200 metres in priority areas, enabling a detailed geochemical footprint of the area.

Geological Context and Historical Exploration

The Ularring project lies within the Archean Yilgarn Province, a prolific gold-bearing region. The Ida Fault Zone, which Ularring straddles, is a well-recognised structural feature associated with several gold deposits including Riverina, Lady Gladys, Mulwarrie, and Davyhurst. Previous exploration efforts, including shallow RAB drilling in the early 2000s, returned limited results, but the application of the Ultrafine® technology has now highlighted a significant anomaly that was previously undetected.

Adding to the project's promise, a single rock chip sample from a sub-cropping quartz vein near the anomaly returned a high-grade assay of 7.9 grams per tonne gold, confirming the presence of potentially economic mineralisation at surface.

Upcoming Drilling Campaign and Strategic Implications

Building on these encouraging results, Hamelin Gold plans to initiate an aircore drilling program in March 2025. The program will comprise approximately 2,500 metres of drilling on 160-metre spaced lines across the priority gold anomaly. This tightly spaced drilling approach is designed to navigate the complex regolith and target narrow gold mineralisation zones, which may not exhibit significant secondary dispersion.

Managing Director Peter Bewick highlighted the strategic importance of the project’s location and the quality of the initial results, stating that Ularring represents a well-defined drill target along a poorly explored segment of a major gold-bearing structure. The company anticipates assay results by mid-2025, which will be critical in assessing the project's potential to contribute meaningfully to Hamelin’s portfolio.
