Eden Innovations Strengthens Partnership with Holcim Ecuador

Eden Innovations Ltd (ASX:EDE) has announced a second substantial purchase order from Holcim Ecuador, valued at approximately US$222,600 (AUD$353,266), for its proprietary concrete additive EdenCrete® Pz7. This follows an initial order in May 2024 and brings total orders from Holcim Ecuador over the past nine months to around US$302,200 (AUD$473,666).

The renewed confidence from Holcim Ecuador, a subsidiary of one of the world’s largest cement and concrete companies, highlights Eden’s growing footprint in the global construction materials market. Holcim operates in over 80 countries with a 2023 revenue of approximately AUD$44 billion, making it a critical partner for Eden’s expansion ambitions.

Global Trials Signal Broader Market Potential

Beyond Ecuador, Holcim is conducting ongoing trials of EdenCrete® Pz7 in key markets including eastern and western Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and the USA. These trials are part of Holcim’s broader strategy to decarbonise its products and reduce the carbon footprint of concrete, a sector traditionally challenged by high emissions.

Positive outcomes from these trials could unlock significant new markets for EdenCrete® Pz7, which is designed to improve concrete’s compressive, flexural, and tensile strength while enabling the substitution of Portland cement with lower-carbon pozzolanic materials. This not only enhances concrete durability but also reduces lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions.

EdenCrete® Pz7: Innovation in Low-Carbon Concrete Additives

Eden’s EdenCrete® range, particularly the Pz and Pz7 variants, targets the growing demand for sustainable concrete solutions. By enabling higher percentages of pozzolans, waste by-products like fly ash and blast furnace slag, to replace Portland cement without compromising performance, EdenCrete® products offer a compelling value proposition for infrastructure projects sensitive to cost and environmental impact.

These additives have demonstrated benefits across a wide range of applications, from roads and bridges to ports and airports, especially in harsh environments subject to freeze-thaw cycles and heavy wear. The ability to extend concrete service life while lowering carbon emissions aligns closely with global infrastructure decarbonisation trends.

Looking Ahead: Growth and Market Validation

Since May 2024, Eden has received orders totaling over US$333,925 (AUD$529,938) from Holcim group companies in Ecuador and the USA, signaling accelerating market acceptance. This momentum follows years of incremental growth and trial programs, including emerging interest in India.

Executive Chairman Gregory H. Solomon expressed optimism about the expanding global footprint, noting that Holcim’s commitment to decarbonisation and the positive trial results position EdenCrete® Pz7 well for further adoption. The coming months will be critical as ongoing trials in Canada, Mexico, and the UK conclude and potentially pave the way for larger-scale commercial rollouts.

Bottom Line?

Eden’s growing orders and global trials with Holcim spotlight its potential to reshape low-carbon concrete markets worldwide.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will ongoing Holcim trials in Canada, Mexico, and the UK translate into large-scale commercial contracts?
  • How will EdenCrete® Pz7 pricing and adoption evolve as competition in low-carbon concrete additives intensifies?
  • What impact will broader infrastructure decarbonisation policies have on Eden’s growth trajectory?
