Western Queen Drilling Yields 33m at 1.03 g/t Au and 14m at 0.26% WO3
Rumble Resources has reported significant high-grade gold and tungsten assay results from Phase 1 drilling at its Western Queen project, uncovering two new gold lodes and expanding tungsten mineralisation. Phase 2 drilling is underway to further delineate these promising discoveries.
- Discovery of two new high-grade gold lodes beneath Princess
- Significant tungsten assay intersections confirming resource potential
- Phase 2 drilling commenced targeting extensions and new lodes
- Maiden tungsten mineral resource estimate targeted for late 2025
- Ongoing joint venture and mining agreement negotiations aiming for H2 2025 production
Phase 1 Drilling Delivers Promising Results
Rumble Resources Ltd (ASX: RTR) has announced compelling assay results from its Phase 1 drilling program at the Western Queen Gold Project in Western Australia. The program, designed to test multiple shallow positions, has successfully identified two new high-grade gold lodes beneath the Princess deposit, concealed beneath an extensive pegmatite intrusion. These lodes returned significant gold intersections, including 33 meters at 1.03 g/t Au and 5 meters at 3.76 g/t Au, highlighting the potential for expanding the existing resource base.
Alongside gold, the drilling also revealed substantial tungsten mineralisation, with notable intersections such as 14 meters at 0.26% WO3 and 7 meters at 0.30% WO3. These results contribute to a growing tungsten assay database, reinforcing the project's potential to host a meaningful tungsten resource.
Strategic Focus on Resource Growth and Tungsten Potential
Following the encouraging Phase 1 outcomes, Rumble has initiated Phase 2 drilling, targeting depth extensions of the high-grade Western Queen South lode, the newly defined Princess lodes, and the Duke deposit. The Duke area, in particular, is under renewed scrutiny after spatial inaccuracies in historic drilling were identified, prompting a redesigned drilling program to better test down-plunge potential.
Managing Director Peter Harold emphasised the strategic importance of these results, noting the potential to increase gold inventory given the limited drilling below known deposits and the historical high-grade production. He also highlighted the tungsten story as a key growth avenue, with a maiden tungsten mineral resource estimate anticipated before year-end 2025.
Advancing Towards Production and Partnerships
In parallel with exploration, Rumble is progressing joint venture and mining agreement negotiations with Bain Global and MEGA. Discussions with potential toll treating and ore purchasing parties have commenced, with MEGA managing the mining approvals process. The company remains on track to commence mining in the second half of 2025, contingent on securing all necessary approvals and agreements.
The Western Queen Project benefits from proximity to multiple processing plants within 100 kilometers, including the Dalgaranga plant with a 2.5 Mtpa capacity. The project’s combined historic production of over 215,000 ounces of gold and current resources nearing 287,000 ounces underscore its significance in the region.
Tungsten’s Growing Strategic Importance
Tungsten, classified as a critical raw material with high supply risk, is increasingly vital for advanced technologies and industrial applications. With China dominating global supply and recent export restrictions heightening supply concerns, projects like Western Queen offer strategic diversification. Rumble’s tungsten mineralisation grades compare favourably with global resources, suggesting a high-grade potential resource that could meet growing demand driven by battery technologies, semiconductors, and energy sectors.
Rumble’s ongoing metallurgical studies and re-sampling of historic core will further clarify tungsten’s economic viability, supporting the planned maiden resource estimate later this year.
Bottom Line?
As Rumble Resources advances its drilling and partnership efforts, Western Queen stands poised to become a significant dual gold and tungsten producer in a tightening global market.
Questions in the middle?
- How will Phase 2 drilling results impact the overall resource estimate and project valuation?
- What are the timelines and terms expected for the ore tolling and mining agreements with Bain Global and MEGA?
- How might global tungsten supply constraints influence Rumble’s strategic positioning and project economics?
