Perpetual Awards 1,500m Lithium Drill Contract to ServDrill Brazil for Igrejinha Campaign
Perpetual Resources has appointed ServDrill Brazil to begin its inaugural lithium drilling campaign at the promising Igrejinha Project in Brazil’s Lithium Valley, targeting high-grade spodumene mineralisation along a 1.4km pegmatite corridor.
- ServDrill Brazil contracted for 1,500m maiden lithium drilling campaign
- Igrejinha Project assays up to 7.6% Li2O and significant caesium detected
- Drilling to commence early June targeting surface-exposed spodumene pegmatites
- Project located near major lithium producers in Minas Gerais’ Lithium Valley
- Ongoing soil and auger sampling to refine drill targets and regional models
Strategic Drilling Partnership Secured
Perpetual Resources Ltd (ASX: PEC) has taken a decisive step forward in its lithium exploration ambitions by appointing ServDrill Brazil to conduct its maiden drilling campaign at the Igrejinha Project, situated in the heart of Brazil’s renowned Lithium Valley. ServDrill Brazil brings valuable local expertise and a proven track record, having recently completed successful drilling programs for established lithium miners such as Sigma Lithium and Lithium Ionic.
This appointment marks a significant milestone for Perpetual as it seeks to delineate high-grade spodumene mineralisation within a highly prospective 1.4-kilometre pegmatite corridor at Igrejinha. The drilling campaign, scheduled to commence in early June, will involve approximately 1,500 metres of reverse circulation drilling focused on testing both down-dip and strike extensions of known mineralised zones.
High-Grade Lithium and Caesium Potential
Recent surface sampling at Igrejinha has revealed exceptional lithium grades, with rockchip assays reaching up to 7.6% lithium oxide (Li2O) and channel samples returning up to 3.26% Li2O. Notably, assays also detected significant caesium oxide (Cs2O) concentrations exceeding 5.3%, highlighting the potential for valuable by-products alongside lithium. These results underscore the project’s robust geological fundamentals and scale potential.
Located less than 10 kilometres from globally significant lithium operations including Sigma Lithium’s low-cost production complex and Lithium Ionic’s developments, Igrejinha benefits from its proximity to established infrastructure and a well-understood geological setting. This strategic positioning enhances the project’s attractiveness and potential for rapid advancement.
Refining Targets Through Comprehensive Sampling
Perpetual’s in-country technical team is actively refining drill targets through an extensive soil sampling and auger drilling program. Over 240 samples collected in March 2025 are currently being assayed, with results expected imminently. These geochemical surveys are critical in the highly weathered Araçuaí Pegmatite District, where surface outcrops are often obscured, enabling the identification of subsurface mineralisation trends and enhancing the precision of drilling locations.
Multispectral and LiDAR surveys have further supported exploration efforts by delineating mineralised corridors and spectral signatures extending beyond known spodumene occurrences, suggesting significant upside for resource expansion along strike.
Positioning Within Brazil’s Lithium Hub
Perpetual’s portfolio in the Minas Gerais Lithium Hub encompasses over 2,800 hectares of exploration permits within the Araçuaí Pegmatite Field, a premier spodumene-bearing region responsible for over 90% of Brazil’s lithium production. The company’s strategic focus on this prolific district aligns with global demand trends for critical minerals essential to the energy transition.
With the maiden drilling campaign imminent, Perpetual is poised to unlock further value from its high-grade lithium assets, potentially positioning itself as a notable player in the competitive lithium exploration landscape of South America.
Bottom Line?
As Perpetual embarks on its first drilling campaign at Igrejinha, the market awaits assay results that could validate its high-grade lithium potential and reshape its growth trajectory.
Questions in the middle?
- Will the upcoming drilling confirm continuity and scale of high-grade lithium mineralisation?
- How might the significant caesium content influence project economics and market positioning?
- What impact will assay results have on Perpetual’s valuation and strategic partnerships?
