Koonenberry’s Broad Gold Mineralisation at Enmore Raises Exploration Stakes

Mining By Maxwell Dee 3 min read

Koonenberry Gold has reported a significant 149.5m gold intercept at its Sunnyside Prospect within the Enmore Gold Project, confirming broad zones of mineralisation and extending the known system over 260m strike length.

  • 149.5m at 0.94g/t gold intersected in drillhole 25ENDD004
  • Mineralisation true width estimated at ~75m, open along strike and at depth
  • Inaugural drilling program completed with 10 holes totaling 3,232.6m
  • Visible gold observed in multiple drillholes, assays pending for holes 5 and 6
  • Company well funded with $5.35 million cash as of March 2025

Strong Gold Intercept at Sunnyside

Koonenberry Gold Ltd has delivered encouraging results from its fourth diamond drillhole (25ENDD004) at the Sunnyside Prospect, part of the Enmore Gold Project in northeast New South Wales. The hole returned a substantial intercept of 149.5 metres grading 0.94 grams per tonne (g/t) gold starting from 184.5 metres depth. Within this broad zone, higher-grade intervals were identified, including 91.5 metres at 1.15 g/t and a standout 2 metres at 13.52 g/t gold.

This intercept ranks as the company’s third-best gram-metre result to date, reinforcing the potential of the Sunnyside system to host both broad, shallow mineralisation and higher-grade shoots at depth. The mineralised zone is estimated to have a true width of approximately 75 metres, extending over a strike length of more than 260 metres and to depths exceeding 300 metres, with mineralisation remaining open in multiple directions.

Successful Maiden Drilling Campaign

The recent drilling campaign at Enmore comprised 10 diamond holes totaling 3,232.6 metres, completed ahead of deteriorating weather conditions. This inaugural program has effectively delineated a significant gold system within a structural corridor parallel to the granite-sediment contact, a key geological feature controlling mineralisation. The company’s Managing Director, Dan Power, described the program as a “great success” for shareholders, highlighting the discovery of a gold system over a 260m by 300m by 75m volume.

Previous drillholes at Sunnyside have also returned impressive results, including 170 metres at 1.75 g/t gold and 172.9 metres at 2.07 g/t gold, with visible gold reported in several holes. Assay results from holes 5 and 6, which also contained visible gold, are expected shortly, promising further news flow.

Geological Insights and Next Steps

Geological observations confirm that the mineralisation is hosted predominantly within granite, with complex structural controls involving multiple orientations of veins and shear zones. The system exhibits characteristics typical of orogenic gold deposits, with evidence of multi-phase veining and alteration patterns consistent with significant hydrothermal activity.

Koonenberry Gold plans to use the data from this drilling to design follow-up programs aimed at testing the continuity of mineralisation along strike, at depth, and up dip. Additionally, the company intends to advance exploration at other high-priority targets within its extensive NSW portfolio, supported by a healthy cash position of $5.35 million as of March 2025.

Broader Portfolio and Strategic Positioning

Beyond Enmore, Koonenberry Gold holds a diverse portfolio of gold and copper projects across New South Wales, including the Lachlan and Koonenberry Projects. The company is strategically positioned to leverage its exploration successes and aims to maximize shareholder value through systematic exploration and potential resource development.

Bottom Line?

With strong initial results and multiple drillholes pending assays, Koonenberry Gold’s Enmore Project is poised for a pivotal exploration phase.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will upcoming assay results from holes 5 and 6 confirm or exceed current grades?
  • How will Koonenberry refine drilling orientation to best capture the complex structural controls?
  • What timeline and budget will the company allocate for follow-up drilling and resource estimation?
