Pivotal Metals Sharpens Focus on Bonanza Gold at Lorraine Prospect
Pivotal Metals Limited has updated its exploration findings at the Lorraine Prospect in Quebec, revealing a broad corridor of bonanza-grade gold mineralisation alongside significant copper and nickel targets. The company is accelerating fieldwork to define drill targets within this highly prospective greenstone belt.
- Amended announcement clarifies regional mineralisation extent and JORC data
- Historic underground sampling shows bonanza gold grades up to 45.2 g/t over 28m
- 600m strike corridor of gold-copper quartz veins identified, open in all directions
- Exploration underway with detailed mapping, sampling, and UAV magnetic surveys
- BAGB projects benefit from proximity to prolific Abitibi mining district and infrastructure
Exploration Update and Amendment
Pivotal Metals Limited (ASX:PVT) has issued an amended announcement refining its earlier report on bonanza-grade gold targets at the Lorraine Prospect, part of its Belleterre-Angliers Greenstone Belt (BAGB) projects in Quebec, Canada. The update includes a revised figure highlighting the regional extent of mineralisation and minor clarifications to the JORC Table 1 data, underscoring the scale and quality of the mineral system.
Bonanza Gold Grades and System Potential
Historic underground channel sampling at Lorraine has revealed exceptional gold grades, including a standout interval of 28 metres averaging 45.2 grams per tonne gold with 3.2% copper. Additional high-grade intersections include 9.5 metres at 14.1 g/t gold and 0.97 metres at 56.2 g/t gold, with visible gold observed in drilling. These results point to a robust Au-Cu quartz vein system with significant scale potential.
The mineralised corridor extends at least 600 metres along strike, remaining open in all directions, and is characterised by multiple signature copper-gold quartz veins. Surface samples up to 6.4 g/t gold and 13.8 g/t gold from mine dumps further validate the prospectivity of the area. Notably, this gold system has been largely unexplored historically, as previous mining focused on copper-nickel sulphides.
Strategic Exploration Initiatives
Pivotal is advancing a gold-focused exploration program at Lorraine, including detailed surface mapping, sampling, and a high-resolution UAV magnetic survey to delineate structural controls. These efforts aim to define drill targets for immediate follow-up, complementing the company’s ongoing resource growth and development activities at the advanced Horden Lake copper-nickel-PGE-gold deposit.
The BAGB project portfolio also includes other high-grade nickel-copper-platinum group metal occurrences at Midrim, Laforce, Alotta, and Lorraine, all situated within the prolific Belleterre-Angliers Greenstone Belt. This region benefits from excellent infrastructure, including proximity to the Abitibi mining district, established milling facilities, and low-cost hydropower, positioning Pivotal well for potential future production.
Regional Context and Peer Activity
The Lorraine project lies adjacent to Vior Inc’s Belleterre Gold Project, which has historic production of 750,000 ounces at 10.7 g/t gold. Vior’s ongoing 100,000-metre drill program highlights the district’s exploration momentum. Pivotal’s dominant landholding in the BAGB and its strategic focus on both gold and base metals position it to capitalize on the region’s rich mineral endowment.
Managing Director Ivan Fairhall emphasised the significance of the bonanza gold grades and the broad mineralised corridor, noting the potential for new discoveries to complement the company’s advanced assets. The upcoming summer field program and UAV survey are expected to provide critical data to accelerate drilling and resource definition.
Bottom Line?
Pivotal Metals is poised to unlock significant value from its BAGB projects as it intensifies exploration on high-grade gold and base metal targets in a world-class mining district.
Questions in the middle?
- Will upcoming drilling confirm the continuity and true width of the bonanza gold mineralisation?
- How will Pivotal integrate gold and base metal targets into a cohesive development strategy?
- What impact will peer exploration successes in the Abitibi region have on Pivotal’s project valuation?
