Strategic Exploration in a World-Class Copper-Gold Province

Orbminco Limited (ASX: OB1) has taken a significant step forward in its exploration efforts by commencing Induced Polarisation (IP) and Ground Gravity surveys at its Bronze Fox Copper-Gold Project, located in Mongolia’s Southern Gobi region. This area is renowned for hosting some of the world’s most substantial copper-gold deposits, including the Oyu Tolgoi mine operated by Rio Tinto and the Mongolian government, which is poised to become a major global copper producer.

The Southern Gobi belt’s growing reputation has attracted considerable merger and acquisition interest, exemplified by a recent A$170 million takeover bid for Xanadu Mines, owner of the nearby Kharmagtai deposit. Orbminco stands out as the last independent foreign-listed explorer with a significant stake in this highly coveted region.

Focused Survey Work to Inform Upcoming Drilling

The current geophysical surveys are designed to refine the understanding of subsurface structures and mineralisation at two priority targets: West Kasulu and Shuteen North. At West Kasulu, recent sampling has confirmed a high-grade copper-gold extension trending northwest beneath shallow cover, a zone that remains largely undrilled. Meanwhile, Shuteen North exhibits extensive sub-cropping copper mineralisation and multiple intrusive systems indicative of a robust porphyry system.

By integrating IP and gravity data, Orbminco aims to delineate sulphide mineralisation and interpret structural boundaries that could control mineralised fluid pathways. These insights will directly inform the design of a diamond core drilling program scheduled for the third quarter of 2025, targeting these promising zones.

Ownership and Strategic Positioning

Orbminco has the option to earn an 80% interest in the Bronze Fox Project from Kincora Copper Limited by committing US$4 million in expenditure over five years, with rights to acquire full ownership. This arrangement positions Orbminco to capitalize on the project’s considerable potential as exploration advances.

Managing Director Ralf Kriege highlighted the timing of these activities, noting the heightened global focus on copper supply constraints and the strategic importance of Mongolian copper-gold projects. The upcoming drilling campaign represents a critical phase for Orbminco as it seeks to validate and expand on the high-grade mineralisation identified to date.

As the Southern Gobi continues to attract major mining players and investment, Orbminco’s progress at Bronze Fox will be closely watched by the market, with the potential to unlock significant value for shareholders.

Bottom Line?

Orbminco’s advancing exploration at Bronze Fox could soon reshape its standing in Mongolia’s copper-gold race.

Questions in the middle?
