Exploration Risks Loom as Artemis Targets Deep Extensions and New IOCG Targets
Artemis Resources is launching a substantial drilling campaign across its Carlow, Titan, and Cassowary projects, aiming to expand gold and copper resources and advance technical studies towards development.
- Up to 5,000m of drilling planned across three key projects
- 3,800m diamond drilling at Carlow to test high-grade gold and copper extensions
- 1,200m low-cost RC drilling at Titan targeting shallow gold anomalies
- Gravity survey and exploration licence expected for Cassowary IOCG copper-gold target
- Technical studies including metallurgical test work to support feasibility at Carlow
Ambitious Drilling Program Targets Resource Growth
Artemis Resources Limited has announced a significant exploration push starting in the September quarter, with a comprehensive drilling program designed to unlock further potential at its flagship Carlow Gold and Copper Project, alongside promising targets at Titan and Cassowary. The company plans to drill up to 5,000 metres, combining diamond and reverse circulation (RC) drilling methods to test extensions of known mineralisation and explore new targets.
At Carlow, the focus is on a 3,800-metre diamond drilling campaign aimed at delineating high-grade gold and copper lodes beyond the current resource boundary, which already contains an estimated 374,000 ounces of gold and 64,000 tonnes of copper. This program will also provide vital core samples for metallurgical testing and technical studies, essential steps toward advancing the project’s feasibility and potential development.
Titan Project, Shallow Gold Targets in Focus
Complementing the Carlow drilling, Artemis will undertake 1,200 metres of shallow, cost-effective RC drilling at the Titan prospect. This area, located just 2 kilometres west of Carlow, hosts several gravity anomalies and surface gold occurrences, including assays as high as 41.4 grams per tonne from ferruginous chert outcrops. The upcoming drilling will test these anomalies, particularly the prominent G1 gravity target, to evaluate the potential for shallow gold mineralisation within a structurally complex thrust zone.
Cassowary Intrusion, New Frontier for IOCG Exploration
Adding a compelling new dimension to Artemis’s portfolio is the Cassowary Intrusion project, a large, untested geological feature located approximately 450 kilometres east of Kalgoorlie beneath the Eucla Basin sediments. Artemis expects to receive the exploration licence for this 330-square-kilometre area in the September quarter, enabling a planned gravity survey to refine drill targets. The Cassowary Intrusion is considered prospective for iron-oxide copper-gold (IOCG) mineralisation, a style of deposit that has attracted interest from major players like WA1 Resources and Teck Resources in adjacent tenements.
Managing Director Julian Hanna emphasised the strategic importance of these initiatives, highlighting the dual approach of expanding the Carlow resource base while exploring new opportunities at Titan and Cassowary. The integration of drilling results with metallurgical and mining studies aims to position Carlow for early development, while the Cassowary project offers a rare chance to explore a large, underexplored IOCG target in a highly prospective geological setting.
Overall, Artemis’s planned activities reflect a confident step forward in unlocking value from its Western Australian assets, leveraging both established resources and frontier exploration targets to build a diversified pipeline of growth opportunities.
Bottom Line?
Artemis’s upcoming drilling and studies could redefine its resource base and set the stage for a pivotal development phase.
Questions in the middle?
- Will the Carlow drilling confirm significant extensions to the high-grade gold and copper lodes?
- How will metallurgical test results influence processing and development strategies at Carlow?
- What initial findings will the Cassowary gravity survey reveal about IOCG potential?
