X2M Secures $3M Deal for 100,000 IoT Safety Devices in Seoul

A Strategic Win in Smart City Safety

Australian IoT technology firm X2M Connect Limited (ASX – X2M) has announced a significant contract win with the City of Seoul, valued at approximately A$3 million. The deal involves supplying 100,000 compact, rechargeable personal safety devices, branded as “Help Me,” as part of Seoul’s ambitious 2025 Smart City public safety initiative. This project aims to enhance urban safety, particularly for women and vulnerable populations, by leveraging connected technology integrated into the city’s existing emergency response systems.

The devices are designed to seamlessly connect with Seoul’s smart city infrastructure, including the Ansimi app, CCTV networks, and emergency platforms. When activated, they transmit real-time location data to police and emergency contacts, enabling rapid intervention. The rollout is scheduled for completion by December 2025, with the first batch of devices distributed free of charge by the municipal government.

Backing from Government Mandates and Growth Potential

This initiative is supported by a new South Korean security alarm mandate, which not only underpins the current contract but also sets the stage for substantial scaling. The City of Seoul plans to expand the program to distribute up to one million devices over time, creating a sizeable pipeline of future revenue and growth opportunities for X2M. The company’s CEO, Mohan Jesudason, highlighted that this contract is more than a one-off sale; it represents a stepping stone into a scalable, government-backed safety ecosystem that could extend across cities and regions.

Beyond South Korea, X2M is eyeing similar public safety solutions for the Australian market, leveraging its proven technology and existing customer relationships. The company’s broader strategy focuses on embedding IoT solutions within utility sectors and expanding into adjacent markets such as public safety, where digital transformation is accelerating.

Positioning for Global Expansion

X2M’s technology platform currently supports over half a million connected devices across multiple countries, including Japan, Taiwan, China, and South Korea. The company is also extending its reach into the Middle East through licensing agreements. This contract with Seoul not only strengthens X2M’s footprint in Asia but also validates its approach to integrating IoT devices into smart city frameworks that prioritize safety and real-time responsiveness.

While the announcement does not disclose contract margins or detailed timelines for scaling beyond the initial delivery, the strategic significance is clear.
