Untested Sunnyside Extension Raises Stakes for Koonenberry Gold’s Enmore Project

Expanding the Sunnyside Gold System

Koonenberry Gold Limited (ASX – KNB) has announced compelling assay results from surface geochemical sampling at its Enmore Gold Project in northeast New South Wales. The latest data indicate a potential 1.6-kilometre extension of the Sunnyside gold system to the east, increasing the strike length to more than 2 kilometres. This extension was identified through strong gold and arsenic soil anomalies along the granite-sediment contact of the Sunnyside Shear Zone, with peak gold soil values reaching 1,580 parts per billion (ppb), significantly higher than the 476ppb peak previously recorded at Sunnyside.

High-Grade Surface Samples Signal Potential

Adding to the excitement, rock chip samples from the nearby Hand in Hand Prospect, located approximately 1.25km east-northeast of Sunnyside, returned high-grade gold assays of 17.55g/t and 11.85g/t. These samples, taken from historical workings, exhibit geological features similar to those at Sunnyside, including quartz-sericite alteration, breccias, and veining. The presence of such grades at surface, coupled with the largely untested nature of this extension, underscores the prospectivity of the area.

Geological Context and Exploration Strategy

The Sunnyside Prospect is situated along a structurally complex shear zone where gold mineralisation is hosted predominantly within granite and adjacent sedimentary rocks. Mineralisation is typically associated with sulphide minerals such as pyrite and arsenopyrite, and the system shows characteristics akin to the nearby Hillgrove gold-antimony deposit. Recent drilling at Sunnyside has intersected broad zones of gold mineralisation from surface to depth, with mineralisation remaining open in multiple directions.

Koonenberry’s Managing Director, Dan Power, highlighted the significance of these findings, noting that the extension along the Sunnyside Shear Zone remains largely untested by drilling. The company plans to conduct further soil sampling to better define the gold anomaly within the granite and is preparing for an ambitious follow-up drilling program exceeding 10,000 metres to test the continuity and extensions of mineralisation.
