Warriedar Uncovers High-Grade Antimony at Azure Coast, Eyes 2025 Drilling Boost
Warriedar Resources has confirmed significant high-grade antimony mineralisation at its Azure Coast deposit near the Ricciardo gold project, unveiling new potential in the Golden Range belt. The company plans targeted drilling later this year to expand on these promising results.
- Trial re-assay of 13 historical drillhole pulps reveals high-grade antimony
- Antimony zone lies beneath gold-dominant mineralisation at Azure Coast
- Only a fraction of Azure Coast samples previously assayed for antimony
- Further gold and antimony-focused drilling scheduled for Q3 2025
- Rising antimony prices and supply risks enhance project’s strategic value
Expanding the Golden Range Frontier
Warriedar Resources Limited (ASX, WA8) has delivered a compelling update on its Golden Range Project in Western Australia, confirming the presence of high-grade antimony mineralisation at the Azure Coast deposit group. Situated approximately 4 kilometres south of the flagship Ricciardo deposit, Azure Coast has long been overshadowed by Ricciardo’s substantial gold resources. However, a recent low-cost trial re-assay of historical drillhole pulps has revealed significant antimony grades, opening a new chapter for this underexplored area.
The re-assay program focused on 13 shallow historical reverse circulation drillholes, returning standout intercepts such as 8 metres at 1.73% antimony and 0.21 grams per tonne gold, including a 1-metre interval grading 9.85% antimony. These results, alongside last year’s scout drilling which reported 9 metres at 1.93% antimony, confirm a robust antimony-dominant zone beneath the previously identified gold mineralisation.
A Hidden Antimony Opportunity
Historically, Azure Coast’s exploration has concentrated on gold, with limited multi-element assaying for antimony. Only about 7% of the total drill samples at Azure Coast have been tested for antimony, leaving a vast potential for discovery. The recent pulp re-assay trial, representing a small portion of the deposit, suggests that the antimony mineralisation extends beyond what was previously understood and remains open at depth and along strike.
Warriedar’s Managing Director and CEO, Amanda Buckingham, highlighted the significance of these findings, noting that the historical drilling was likely too shallow to fully capture the antimony zone’s true extent. The company is now preparing for further gold and antimony-focused drilling scheduled for the third quarter of 2025, aiming to delineate and quantify this emerging resource.
Strategic Importance of Antimony
Antimony is classified as a critical mineral by multiple jurisdictions including the EU, US, Japan, and Australia, due to its essential role in manufacturing, limited substitutes, and supply risks. Global production is heavily concentrated in China, which has recently imposed export restrictions, driving prices from around US$13,000 per tonne in April 2024 to over US$59,000 per tonne by June 2025.
Warriedar’s discovery at Azure Coast aligns with this strategic backdrop, potentially positioning the Golden Range Project as a significant domestic source of antimony. The company’s approach leverages historical data and cost-effective re-assaying techniques, a strategy that previously led to the delineation of Australia’s largest open-pit antimony resource at Ricciardo.
Looking Ahead
With a market capitalisation of approximately A$135 million and a strong cash position bolstered by recent capital raises, Warriedar is well placed to advance its exploration agenda. The upcoming drilling campaigns at Azure Coast and continued extensional drilling at Ricciardo will be closely watched by investors seeking exposure to both gold and critical minerals.
While the current antimony assay coverage at Azure Coast is limited, the early results are promising. The true lateral and depth extent of the antimony mineralisation remains to be defined, underscoring the importance of the planned drilling program. Success here could significantly enhance the project’s resource base and strategic value in a tightening global antimony market.
Bottom Line?
Azure Coast’s antimony potential is just beginning to unfold, with 2025 drilling set to reveal how deep and wide this critical mineral opportunity truly runs.
Questions in the middle?
- How extensive is the antimony mineralisation at Azure Coast beyond the current assay footprint?
- What metallurgical recoveries can be achieved for antimony and gold from Azure Coast ore?
- How will rising antimony prices and supply constraints impact Warriedar’s project economics?
