Expanding the Dittmer Gold System

Ballymore Resources (ASX:BMR) has announced a significant expansion of its flagship Dittmer gold project in north Queensland, with recent field work doubling the known strike length of the mineralised corridor to approximately 4 kilometres. This extension, identified through detailed stream sediment and rock chip sampling, reveals a much larger and potentially richer gold system than previously understood.

The historic Dittmer gold mine, which operated intermittently between 1935 and 1951, had only seen limited modern exploration, with Ballymore having drilled just 300 metres of the fault corridor until now. The new findings highlight strong gold anomalism extending well beyond the previously drilled zones, particularly in the Lady Denise and Jim’s prospect areas south of the mine, where visible gold was observed in eleven stream sediment samples and assays reached as high as 39 grams per tonne.

High-Grade Surface Sampling and Geological Indicators

Prospecting efforts have uncovered gossanous veining and significant vein material in creeks draining the southern prospects, with rock chip samples returning grades up to 7.43 g/t gold. These surface indications correspond with a large magnetic low interpreted as an alteration zone associated with the Dittmer fault corridor, suggesting a substantial mineralised system at depth.

Ballymore’s Managing Director, David A-Izzeddin, emphasised the importance of these results, stating that the project is shaping up to be a major shallow, high-grade mineralised system. The company is preparing to ground-check these highly anomalous zones and plans to undertake soil sampling to further delineate targets.

Ongoing Drilling and Future Exploration

Complementing the surface exploration, Ballymore has completed a Stage 5 underground drilling campaign, which has confirmed continuity of high-grade mineralisation within the Duffer Lode. Notably, one drill hole intersected 6.6 metres at 13.67 g/t gold, including a spectacular 0.4 metre interval grading 221.3 g/t gold. These results reinforce the potential for economically significant mineralisation.

In parallel, Ballymore has commenced drilling a deep porphyry target beneath the historic mine, funded by the CEI. This deep hole aims to test a large pipe-like magnetic anomaly interpreted as a porphyry copper deposit, which could add a new dimension to the project’s resource potential. Drilling is progressing well, with completion expected in July.

Looking Ahead

With a well-funded position and a robust exploration pipeline, Ballymore is poised to advance the Dittmer project through further drilling, geophysical surveys, and detailed geological mapping. The company’s upcoming activities include receiving additional assay results from the Stage 5 program, conducting an IP geophysical survey, and continuing deep drilling efforts. These steps will be critical in defining the scale and grade continuity of the mineralised system and assessing its development potential.
