DroneShield Limited (ASX – DRO), an Australian leader in counter-drone technology, has secured a follow-on research and development contract valued at $11.7 million from a Five Eyes Department of Defence customer. This marks the company’s fourth R&D award from the same customer, underscoring a sustained relationship within the influential Five Eyes intelligence alliance comprising the US, Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand.

The new contract spans two years and follows the successful completion of a $9.9 million contract announced in July 2023. Since 2020, DroneShield has received approximately $14.4 million in contracts from this customer, reflecting consistent confidence in its artificial intelligence-driven counter-drone and electronic warfare solutions.

Strategic Significance and Performance Validation

CEO Oleg Vornik highlighted the importance of multiple follow-on contracts as a key performance indicator, stating that such awards are the "ultimate customer measure" of DroneShield’s capabilities. As an Australian sovereign business with global reach, the company’s ability to secure multi-year contracts of meaningful size with a major defence customer reinforces its position in the competitive counter-UAS market.

While the identity of the DoD customer remains confidential, DroneShield confirmed that this information is not expected to materially affect the company’s securities. The announcement also clarified that there are no remaining conditions attached to the contract award, providing certainty around the immediate revenue stream.
