Final 2024 Drilling Results at Moblan

Sayona Mining Limited (ASX – SYA) has announced the final assay results from its extensive 2024 drilling program at the Moblan Lithium Project in Québec, Canada. The campaign comprised 116 diamond drill holes totaling 38,953 meters, adding a significant volume of new data to the project’s geological database. These results reinforce Moblan’s status as one of North America’s most promising hard rock lithium assets.

High-Grade Lithium Intercepts and Resource Upgrade Potential

The drilling campaign delivered multiple thick and high-grade lithium oxide (Li2O) intercepts both within and beyond the 2024 Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) pit shell. Noteworthy intercepts include 60.75 meters at 1.82% Li2O and 54.80 meters at 1.62% Li2O inside the pit shell, alongside 59.55 meters at 1.46% Li2O outside it. These findings support the potential conversion of Inferred resources to higher confidence Indicated and Measured categories, a critical step toward resource upgrading and eventual mine development.

Geological Continuity Across Multiple Zones

Drilling confirmed the continuity of spodumene-bearing pegmatite dykes across the Main, South, Inter, and Moleon areas. Particularly significant is the sub-horizontal dyke system extending over 2.3 kilometers, connecting these zones and indicating a robust mineralised system. This geological continuity bodes well for resource expansion and mining efficiency.

Strategic Location and Infrastructure

The Moblan project benefits from a strategic location approximately 130 kilometers northwest of Chibougamau and close to the Cree community of Mistissini. Its proximity to the Route du Nord highway and railway lines linking to major eastern Canadian ports enhances logistical advantages, positioning Moblan well for future production and export.

Outlook and Next Steps

Sayona plans to incorporate these 2024 drilling results into an updated mineral resource estimate in 2025. CEO Lucas Dow highlighted the importance of the results in underpinning the company’s growth strategy in the Eeyou-Istchee James Bay region. As the lithium market continues to tighten globally, Moblan’s expanding resource base and high-grade intercepts could play a pivotal role in North American lithium supply chains.

Bottom Line?

Sayona’s 2024 drilling success sets the stage for a resource upgrade that could accelerate Moblan’s development trajectory.

Questions in the middle?

  • How will the 2024 drilling results quantitatively impact the upcoming 2025 resource estimate?
  • What are the timelines and capital requirements for advancing Moblan toward production?
  • How might evolving lithium market dynamics influence Sayona’s strategic decisions at Moblan?
