Exploration Milestone at Chatree South-East Complex

Kingsgate Consolidated Limited (ASX, KCN), through its controlled entity Akara Resources, has announced the completion of a significant drilling campaign at the Chatree South-East Complex in Thailand. This program, comprising 27 reverse circulation and six diamond drill holes totaling nearly 3,800 metres, aims to support an inaugural resource estimate expected later this year. The South-East Complex lies approximately three kilometres from the existing Chatree Gold Mine and has long been suspected to host extensions of the original mineralisation system.

Encouraging Drill Intercepts Highlight Potential

Drilling results have revealed multiple substantial gold intercepts near surface, including a standout 16 metres at 2.61 grams per tonne gold, with a high-grade segment of 3 metres at 9.23 grams per tonne. At the Chang Puek prospect, located within the same belt, further continuity of gold and silver mineralisation was confirmed with intercepts such as 32 metres at 2.94 grams per tonne gold. These results reinforce the prospectivity of the Chatree belt and suggest that the mineralised system extends beyond previously defined boundaries.

Supporting Technical Studies and Regional Exploration

Complementing the drilling, Kingsgate has engaged hydrogeology and geotechnical consultants to conduct detailed studies at the South-East Complex. These investigations will inform a planned pre-feasibility study, critical for advancing the project towards development. Meanwhile, exploration at the Singto prospect has also yielded promising results, with gold and copper mineralisation identified in altered diorite. In Chile, Kingsgate’s Nueva Esperanza Project is progressing through a geochemical sampling phase, with over 700 rock chip and soil samples submitted for analysis, results of which are pending.

Strategic Implications and Future Outlook

Kingsgate’s Managing Director Jamie Gibson highlighted the significance of these findings, noting the systematic approach over the past 18 months has validated the South-East Complex as an extension of the Chatree system. He emphasised that despite this progress, the belt remains underexplored and highly prospective, suggesting further upside potential. The company plans to complete remaining groundwater and infill drilling by the end of the third quarter, setting the stage for a maiden resource estimate and subsequent development studies.

Bottom Line?

Kingsgate’s latest drilling success at Chatree signals a promising new chapter, but key resource details and development plans remain to be unveiled.

Questions in the middle?

  • What will the inaugural resource estimate reveal about the size and grade of the South-East Complex?
  • How will ongoing hydrogeological and geotechnical studies impact project feasibility and timelines?
  • What insights will the pending geochemical results from Nueva Esperanza provide for Kingsgate’s Chilean ambitions?
