Exploration Momentum Builds at Turiscai

Tivan Limited (ASX, TVN) has reported promising progress at its Turiscai Project in Timor-Leste, with its local geology team uncovering three additional zones of copper mineralisation. This development marks a significant step in the company’s systematic exploration campaign, which is focused on geological mapping and sampling across a 344 square kilometre area.

The newly identified mineralised sites, Beremana, Haru River, and Matorec, are located within the Manufahi Municipality and add to previously reported discoveries, reinforcing the project's potential. Visual inspections have noted the presence of copper-bearing minerals such as malachite and chalcopyrite, alongside pyrite, although Tivan cautions that these visual estimates are preliminary and await laboratory confirmation.

Strategic Operational Enhancements

To support the expanding field activities, Tivan is bolstering its local team by appointing a Community Liaison Officer and increasing field staff. This move aims to strengthen community engagement and facilitate smoother operations on the ground. Additionally, the company has successfully navigated regulatory processes with Timor-Leste government agencies to enable the export of geological samples to ALS Laboratories in Brisbane, where detailed assays will be conducted.

Executive Chairman Grant Wilson highlighted the encouraging pace of exploration and expressed optimism about the upcoming assay results. He is scheduled to speak at the 2025 Timor-Leste Australia Economic and Business Conference in Dili, underscoring Tivan’s commitment to fostering strong local and regional partnerships.

Geological Context and Next Steps

The Turiscai Project covers seven exploration licenses spanning three municipalities and is geologically analogous to some of the region’s major copper-gold deposits, such as Grasberg and Ok Tedi. While no drilling has been conducted yet, the current phase involves reconnaissance rock chip and soil sampling to delineate geochemical anomalies that will guide future exploration targets.

Assay results from the initial batch of samples are expected by September 2025, which will provide critical data to assess the economic potential of the mineralisation. These results will inform the planning of subsequent exploration stages, potentially including drilling campaigns to better define resource extents.
