Expanding Gold Prospects at Burbanks East

Future Battery Minerals Ltd (ASX, FBM) has made a significant stride in its exploration efforts by defining seven broad gold targets at its Burbanks East project, located in the prolific Coolgardie Greenstone Belt of Western Australia. This advancement follows a comprehensive litho-structural review combined with proprietary magnetic geophysical data processing, which has highlighted zones of complex structural activity potentially conducive to gold mineralisation.

The identified targets are not merely theoretical constructs; several coincide strongly with elevated gold-in-soil anomalies previously recorded, including a notable 2.7-kilometre gold-in-soil anomaly that has yet to be tested by drilling. Historical shallow drilling in two of these target areas has already yielded encouraging intercepts, such as 8 metres at 3.37 grams per tonne gold and 10 metres at 0.9 grams per tonne gold, underscoring the prospectivity of the region.

Strategic Location and Tenure Progress

Burbanks East is strategically positioned approximately 1.5 kilometres east of the established Burbanks Gold Mine, which holds a resource of 466,000 ounces at 2.4 grams per tonne gold, owned by Horizon Minerals. The project also neighbors other significant operations like Auric Mining’s Burbanks Mill and Beacon Minerals’ MacPhersons Reward Gold Mine, situating FBM’s tenure within a well-endowed gold district.

The company is actively progressing the grant of tenure for Burbanks East and is in negotiations to finalise a Heritage Protection Agreement with the relevant Native Title Party. This agreement is a critical step to ensure responsible and compliant access to the land for exploration activities.

Complementary Exploration at Miriam and Financial Strength

While advancing Burbanks East, FBM is also focused on its nearby Miriam project, where Phase 1 drilling at the Forrest and Canyon prospects has been completed. Assay results from this program are anticipated in early September 2025 and will inform a Phase 2 drilling campaign planned for the fourth quarter of the year. The outcomes at Miriam are expected to contribute to an initial gold Mineral Resource Estimate, further underpinning the company’s growth strategy.

FBM’s exploration ambitions are well-supported financially, with a robust cash balance of A$6.4 million and zero debt as of 30 June 2025. This strong balance sheet provides the company with the runway to execute its planned exploration and evaluation programs without immediate capital constraints.

Looking Ahead

Future Battery Minerals’ methodical approach; integrating geophysical data, historical geochemical anomalies, and strategic tenure management; positions it well to unlock significant value from the Coolgardie Goldfields. The identification of multiple drill-ready targets at Burbanks East, coupled with imminent assay results from Miriam, sets the stage for a potentially transformative period in the company’s exploration journey.

Bottom Line?

FBM’s expanding target portfolio and strong financial footing set the stage for a pivotal exploration phase in the coming months.

Questions in the middle?

  • What will the assay results from Miriam’s Phase 1 drilling reveal about the project’s gold potential?
  • How swiftly will the Heritage Protection Agreement and tenure grant at Burbanks East be finalized?
  • Which of the seven new gold targets will FBM prioritize for initial drilling campaigns?
