Extending the Copper Footprint

White Cliff Minerals Limited (ASX – WCN) has reported a promising start to its summer reverse circulation (RC) drilling campaign at the Danvers Copper Project in Nunavut, Canada. The company announced that visible sulphide mineralisation was observed in all holes drilled so far, effectively more than doubling the previously drill-tested strike length to over 400 metres. This marks a substantial increase from the maiden drilling earlier this year, which had confirmed high-grade copper intervals and a historical resource footprint.

The standout hole, DAN25012, a roughly 100-metre step-out to the southwest, intersected 59 metres of visible sulphides starting at 56 metres depth, including a notable 10-metre interval rich in bornite and chalcocite; two copper sulphide minerals that often indicate high-grade copper zones. Other holes drilled northeast of the initial discovery also returned broad sulphide intervals, reinforcing the continuity of mineralisation along strike.

Ongoing Drilling and Regional Targets

White Cliff is actively extending drilling to the southwest with the goal of confirming continuous mineralisation along a strike length exceeding 800 metres. Additionally, the company plans to test a newly identified, large outcropping zone of chalcocite and bornite mineralisation approximately 4.5 kilometres southwest of Danvers. This area remains largely untested and could represent a significant new target within the Rae Copper Project.

Meanwhile, at the Hulk target, a replacement diamond drilling rig has been mobilised following operational issues with the original contractor. Drilling is now underway at increased production levels, with assay results from both Danvers and Hulk expected in the September quarter. These results will be critical in assessing the broader potential of White Cliff’s Nunavut portfolio.

Historic Resource and Next Steps

The Danvers project hosts a historic copper resource estimate dating back to the 1960s, which is not compliant with current JORC reporting standards. White Cliff acknowledges this and plans further drilling and evaluation to establish a JORC-compliant mineral resource. The company’s Managing Director, Troy Whittaker, emphasised the importance of demonstrating significant scale to build on the world-class copper intercepts from previous drilling campaigns.

Complementing the drilling efforts, White Cliff is integrating geophysical data from a drone-based magnetotellurics survey conducted across the Danvers mineral lease. Results from this survey are anticipated later in August and may help refine targets for subsequent drilling phases.

Balancing Optimism with Caution

While visual observations of sulphide mineralisation are encouraging, the company cautions that these are preliminary and not a substitute for laboratory assays, which will ultimately determine the grade and economic potential of the mineralisation. The true thickness of mineralised zones is also yet to be established due to the current drill orientations.
