Exploration Breakthrough at Side Well

Great Boulder Resources (ASX – GBR) has announced promising new exploration results from its flagship Side Well Gold Project near Meekatharra, Western Australia. A recent induced polarisation (IP) geophysical survey has identified multiple shallow chargeability anomalies that could indicate the presence of gold mineralisation beyond the known Mulga Bill and Ironbark deposits.

The Side Well project already boasts a substantial Mineral Resource Estimate of 668,000 ounces of gold at an average grade of 2.8 grams per tonne. However, the new IP survey, conducted in July 2025, has expanded the potential footprint of mineralisation by revealing chargeability anomalies over a 3-kilometre strike length north of Mulga Bill, including at the Eaglehawk prospect. Notably, a previously unrecognised target corridor has been detected midway between Mulga Bill and Ironbark, coinciding with a gravity anomaly that further supports its prospectivity.

Strategic Use of Geophysics to Guide Drilling

Great Boulder’s Managing Director, Andrew Paterson, highlighted the strategic value of the IP survey in targeting greenfields areas with limited prior drilling. The technique, which detects disseminated sulphides associated with gold mineralisation, has proven effective in delineating the pyrite alteration zones that host known deposits. By extending the survey lines east-west across the Central and Eastern Corridors, the company has been able to identify new shallow chargeable zones that warrant drill testing.

To capitalize on these findings, Great Boulder is mobilising a second aircore drill rig to site in late August. This additional rig will enable simultaneous resource definition drilling at established prospects and first-pass drilling of the newly identified targets. The company plans to use shallow drilling to detect pathfinder elements such as bismuth, which can guide deeper bedrock testing for gold.

Ongoing Development and Next Steps

Alongside exploration, Great Boulder continues to advance development studies at Ironbark, including geotechnical and metallurgical investigations. The company has completed resource definition drilling at Eaglehawk and Mulga Bill and is progressing similar work at Side Well South.

The combination of geophysical data, geochemical sampling, and structural mapping has allowed Great Boulder to prioritize high-impact targets for upcoming drilling campaigns. The discovery of a new conceptual target corridor between Mulga Bill and Ironbark, supported by coincident gravity and chargeability anomalies, adds a compelling new dimension to the project’s exploration potential.
