Alkane Uncovers High-Grade Gold Zones at El Paso Near Tomingley Mine
Alkane Resources has reported promising gold intersections near its Tomingley Gold Operations, with standout results at the El Paso prospect and along the Tomingley Structure. These findings underpin plans for further drilling and resource growth.
- Significant gold intercepts at El Paso prospect including 8.2m @ 3.74 g/t Au and 1m @ 25 g/t Au
- Drilling confirms potential along 5km Tomingley Structure with multiple gold zones
- 17,000m air-core drilling identifies new mineralisation zones in Mingelo Volcanic belt
- Planned 2,000m diamond drilling at El Paso to refine exploration targets
- Comprehensive regional exploration program underway with drone surveys and multi-prospect drilling
Exploration Momentum Builds at Tomingley
Alkane Resources Ltd has unveiled a series of encouraging exploration results from its Tomingley Gold Project in central New South Wales, Australia. The company’s recent drilling campaign, which included diamond core, reverse circulation, and air-core methods, has revealed multiple zones of gold mineralisation within a 5-kilometre radius of its operating Tomingley Gold Operations (TGO).
At the heart of the update is the El Paso prospect, located just 2 kilometres south of the San Antonio deposit. Here, four diamond core holes totaling approximately 1,200 metres targeted a dacite volcanic unit known to host high-grade gold mineralisation. The results were notable, with intercepts such as 8.2 metres grading 3.74 grams per tonne (g/t) gold and a standout 1 metre at 25 g/t gold, highlighting the prospect’s potential to contribute meaningfully to Alkane’s resource base.
Extending the Tomingley Gold Footprint
Beyond El Paso, the company tested the Tomingley Structure, a 5-kilometre-long gold-arsenic mineralised corridor extending north from historic workings. Five reverse circulation drill holes confirmed the presence of gold mineralisation, including intervals grading up to 1.38 g/t gold. This supports the prospectivity of the structure and the nearby Tomingley Two prospect, where further diamond drilling is planned to better understand the controls on mineralisation.
Complementing these efforts, a substantial air-core drilling program comprising 17,000 metres across the Mingelo Volcanic belt has identified new gold zones between El Paso and Peak Hill. These early-stage discoveries at prospects such as El Paso Southeast, Jounama, and Westray offer additional avenues for exploration and resource growth.
Strategic Next Steps and Regional Exploration
Looking ahead, Alkane plans to commence a 2,000-metre diamond drilling program at El Paso to refine the exploration target and better define the mineralised zones. This will be part of a broader 12-month regional exploration strategy that includes a high-resolution drone magnetic survey around Peak Hill to map subsurface structures and volcanic units beneath cover.
Additional drilling totaling 6,000 metres is scheduled across multiple prospects including El Paso Southeast, Tomingley One and Two, Glen Isla, and Westray. These efforts aim to delineate new resources and extend mine life at Tomingley, which currently operates a 1 million tonnes per annum processing facility.
Alkane’s Managing Director and CEO, Nic Earner, emphasised the company’s commitment to expanding its resource inventory, "We continue to explore at Tomingley within our approved mining areas and regionally, seeking to add further mine life, scale, and grade to Tomingley. It is pleasing to see the extent of mineralisation in the broader Tomingley region, and we look forward to continuing to add to our resource base."
Implications for Alkane and Investors
The exploration results reinforce Alkane’s position as a significant gold producer with growth potential in eastern Australia. The upcoming resource update scheduled for September 2025 will incorporate these new findings and reflect any expansions or depletions. Investors will be watching closely to see how these developments translate into reserves and production forecasts.
Bottom Line?
Alkane’s latest drilling success at Tomingley sets the stage for resource growth and a potential extension of mine life, with key assay results due later this year.
Questions in the middle?
- How will the upcoming September resource update quantify the impact of these new discoveries?
- What are the technical challenges and timelines for advancing the El Paso prospect towards production?
- Could the Tomingley Structure and Mingelo Volcanic belt discoveries lead to a significant resource re-rating?
