Cazaly Resources Launches New Drilling Push at Goongarrie Gold Project

Cazaly Resources has initiated a targeted aircore drilling program at its Goongarrie Gold Project to expand known gold mineralisation and uncover new prospects along the Menzies Shear Zone.

  • Commencement of ~3,500m aircore drilling at Goongarrie
  • Focus on high priority targets along the Menzies Shear Zone
  • Testing strike extent of gold mineralisation at Duchess prospect
  • Drilling designed to generate new targets for deeper RC drilling
  • Project covers significant gold-bearing structures in underexplored region

Exploration Momentum Builds at Goongarrie

Cazaly Resources Limited (ASX, CAZ) has kicked off an initial aircore drilling campaign at its Goongarrie Gold Project in Western Australia, marking a significant step forward in its exploration efforts. The program, spanning approximately 3,500 metres, aims to test high priority gold targets along the Menzies Shear Zone, a structurally complex corridor known for hosting gold mineralisation.

The drilling is being conducted on a broad 80m by 80m grid, with plans to tighten spacing to 40m in areas showing promising results. This approach is designed to delineate the strike extent of known gold mineralisation, particularly at the recently identified Duchess prospect, where previous drilling intercepted notable gold grades including 19 metres at 1.5 grams per tonne and a high-grade 2 metres at 6.6 grams per tonne.

Strategic Targeting of Structural Complexity

The Menzies Shear Zone is a key structural feature within the project area, characterized by magnetic anomalies and zones of structural complexity that have been highlighted through recent reprocessing of aeromagnetic data. These features provide compelling targets for gold mineralisation, and the current aircore drilling is designed to test these underexplored areas systematically.

Results from this initial phase will inform a subsequent round of deeper reverse circulation (RC) drilling, aimed at testing mineralisation at depth. This staged approach reflects a methodical exploration strategy to progressively build a clearer picture of the project's gold potential.

A Project with Historical and Regional Significance

Located about 90 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie, the Goongarrie Gold Project covers 70 square kilometres of greenstone terrain within the Kalgoorlie Terrane. This region is part of the northern extension of the Boulder-Lefroy Shear Zone, one of the richest gold mineralised structures in the Yilgarn Craton. The project also encompasses twelve kilometres of the Bardoc Tectonic Zone, adding to its prospectivity.

Historically, exploration in the area was limited, with some shallow drilling and surface sampling focused on oxide gold mineralisation. However, recent high-grade intercepts in nearby projects, such as Gorilla Gold’s Lakeview prospect, underscore the district’s potential for significant discoveries.

Looking Ahead

Managing Director Tara French expressed optimism about the program, emphasizing the importance of targeting underexplored zones to generate new gold targets. The company’s systematic approach, combining broad reconnaissance drilling with focused follow-up, positions it well to unlock value from this historically overlooked area.

As assay results from the aircore drilling become available, investors and analysts will be watching closely to see if Cazaly can replicate or exceed the encouraging grades reported at Duchess and elsewhere along the shear zone.

Bottom Line?

Cazaly’s methodical drilling campaign at Goongarrie could redefine gold potential in a historically underexplored corridor.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will the aircore drilling confirm extensions of high-grade gold mineralisation at Duchess?
  • How will the results influence the scale and timing of the planned deeper RC drilling?
  • Could discoveries at Goongarrie shift regional exploration dynamics in the Kalgoorlie Terrane?
