Far East Gold Uncovers New High-Grade Gold Zones at Idenburg’s Bermol Prospect

Initial Drilling Validates Bermol’s Gold Potential

Far East Gold Limited (ASX – FEG) has released promising results from its Phase 1 drilling program at the Bermol prospect, a key part of its flagship Idenburg Project in Papua, Indonesia. The company has completed ten drill holes totaling nearly 1,170 metres, confirming gold mineralisation consistent with historical data and, crucially, identifying new mineralised zones beyond the current JORC inferred resource boundary.

The highlight intercepts include intervals such as 4.7 metres grading 2.26 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 92.4 metres depth, with higher-grade sub-intervals reaching up to 11.02 g/t over 0.5 metres. These results underscore the presence of a wide, shallow-dipping shear zone hosting gold associated with sulphide-rich mylonite zones, a hallmark of orogenic gold systems.

Expanding the Resource and Exploration Pipeline

Currently, Bermol accounts for approximately 228,000 ounces within the broader Idenburg inferred resource of 540,000 ounces at 4.1 g/t gold. The new drilling results suggest significant potential to expand this resource, aligning with an independent Exploration Target assessment by SMGC that estimates up to 7.2 million ounces at 6.1 g/t gold in the district.

Far East Gold is also advancing a high-definition drone magnetic and Lidar survey over Bermol and Bermol North, covering around 1,200 hectares. This survey aims to delineate key structural features along a 4-kilometre northeast trending corridor, which could guide future drilling and resource definition efforts.

Looking Ahead – New Targets and Ongoing Drilling

Following these encouraging results, the company plans to commence drilling at Bermol North imminently, targeting highly prospective zones that have not been previously tested. Additionally, maiden drilling programs are being prepared for other high-priority prospects within the Idenburg Project, including Sua and Kwaplu. These initiatives are designed to maintain a steady flow of exploration news and to unlock the district-scale gold potential of the project.

CEO Shane Menere highlighted the significance of these early results, stating they validate the geological model and reinforce the belief that Bermol could host a substantial gold system. The company’s methodical approach, combining drilling with advanced geophysical surveys, positions Far East Gold well to upgrade and expand its resource base.

Technical Insights and Geological Context

The drilling has revealed that gold mineralisation is closely associated with intense deformation zones characterized by mylonite and sulphide mineralisation, particularly arsenopyrite. These features are consistent with orogenic gold deposits, which typically form in structurally complex terranes like Idenburg’s amphibolite facies metamorphic rocks. The presence of high-grade gold within these shear zones bodes well for the project’s economic potential.

Far East Gold’s rigorous sampling and assay protocols, including fire assay with atomic absorption spectrometry, ensure the reliability of these results. The company’s ongoing exploration strategy aims to systematically test and expand these mineralised zones, with a focus on both resource growth and grade enhancement.
