Kookabookra Yields Up to 23g/t Gold at Kojak Prospect in Latest Sampling

Exploration Momentum Builds at Kookabookra

Thunderbird Resources Limited (ASX – THB) has delivered another promising update from its 100%-owned Kookabookra Gold Project in north-eastern New South Wales. The latest round of surface rock chip and grab sampling has confirmed the presence of high-grade gold mineralisation across multiple prospects, notably Bear Hill, Butchers Reef, and a newly identified target dubbed Kojak.

Assays from the Bear Hill prospect returned grades as high as 17.35 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, while Butchers Reef samples reached up to 2.79 g/t. However, the standout discovery is the Kojak prospect, previously undocumented, where rock chip samples have yielded exceptional grades up to 23.0 g/t gold. This mineralisation is associated with a 3-metre wide fault zone trending north-northeast, interpreted to extend over at least 400 metres, suggesting a structurally significant gold-bearing system.

Intrusion-Related Gold System Potential

The geological context of these findings points toward a large-scale intrusion-related gold system. Thunderbird’s exploration team notes that the mineralisation styles at Bear Hill, Butchers Reef, and Kojak vary but are consistent with fault-controlled veins and granite-hosted structures. This diversity hints at different parts of a broader mineralised system, increasing the prospectivity of the entire project area.

Executive Chairman George Ventouras expressed optimism about the project’s trajectory, highlighting that each field program continues to reveal new targets. He drew parallels to other major discoveries with small surface footprints, such as the Kidston deposit in Queensland, underscoring the compelling pathway toward a significant gold discovery at Kookabookra.

Next Steps – Soil Sampling and Drilling Plans

Follow-up work is already underway, with soil sampling and detailed geological mapping progressing at Bear Hill and Butchers Reef. Additional soil sampling is planned for the Mannix, Kojak, and Columbo prospects. Importantly, Thunderbird is preparing to submit drill permit applications for the Mannix and Mt Secret prospects, aiming to test recently identified geophysical chargeability anomalies and historical mineralisation.

The company’s maiden drilling campaign at Kookabookra is poised to test multiple high-priority targets, including those defined by the latest geochemical and geophysical data. These efforts will be critical in assessing the continuity and scale of the mineralisation and advancing the project toward resource definition.

Kookabookra, alongside Thunderbird’s Rockvale Project, sits within a highly prospective mineralised corridor in the New England Orogen, a region that has historically produced over 20 million ounces of gold. The company’s focus on this corridor aligns with its broader strategy to discover and develop critical minerals essential for the global energy transition.

While the current results are based on selective surface sampling and reconnaissance work, they provide a strong foundation for the next phase of exploration. The coming months will be pivotal as drilling results emerge and the geological model for Kookabookra is refined.
