Exceptional One-Metre Sampling Sharpens Payns Prospect Picture

Nexus Minerals Limited has released compelling assay results from its recent reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the Payns Prospect, part of the Wallbrook Gold Project in Western Australia. The program, comprising 5,172 metres across 46 holes, delivered one-metre sample assays that significantly enhance the resolution of high-grade gold zones within the broader mineralised envelope.

Notably, the one-metre samples returned gold grades up to 30.05 grams per tonne (g/t), a marked improvement over previously reported four-metre composite results. These findings confirm strong spatial continuity of mineralisation and reveal discrete high-grade zones embedded within a 900 by 750-metre footprint that remains open for lateral and down-plunge extensions.

Strategic Location and Geological Context

Payns Prospect is strategically positioned approximately 4 kilometres northwest of Nexus’s Crusader-Templar deposit, which hosts over 300,000 ounces of gold, and just 1 kilometre southeast of Northern Star Resources’ active Porphyry and Million Dollar gold mines. The geological setting is characterised by felsic to intermediate volcanic rocks intruded by haematite-altered porphyries, with mineralisation associated with quartz and sulphide veining.

The recent drilling highlights several standout intercepts, including 5 metres at 8.10 g/t gold (with a peak one-metre sample of 30.05 g/t), 8 metres at 4.19 g/t, and 7 metres at 2.92 g/t gold. These results underscore the prospect’s potential to contribute meaningfully to Wallbrook’s growing gold resource base.

Expanding Exploration with a New Regional Drill Program

Building on the Payns success, Nexus has commenced a substantial 6,000-metre RC drilling campaign targeting the Clement, Godfrey, and Target 4.1 prospects within the Wallbrook project area. These targets have shown promising gold anomalism in previous aircore drilling, and the new program aims to test mineralisation continuity, geometry, and grade tenor at depth.

The Clement Prospect lies immediately north of the Wallbrook Gold Mine and exhibits a large anomalous footprint with multiple mineralisation styles. Godfrey, located 600 metres east of Crusader-Templar, shows strong strike continuity over a 1,200-metre corridor. Target 4.1, situated along strike from historic open pits, has demonstrated significant gold mineralisation over 1.7 kilometres.

Outlook and Strategic Implications

Managing Director Andy Tudor emphasised the encouraging nature of the Payns results and the systematic approach Nexus is applying to exploration. The company’s focus on near-surface gold mineralisation and efficient drill targeting could accelerate resource growth at Wallbrook. The ongoing regional drilling program is expected to provide further clarity on the scale and quality of mineralisation across multiple prospects.

While the current data spacing does not yet support Mineral Resource estimation, the continuity and grade tenor revealed by the one-metre sampling mark a significant step forward. Investors and analysts will be watching closely for upcoming assay results from the Clement, Godfrey, and Target 4.1 programs, anticipated in late October and November.

Bottom Line?

Nexus Minerals’ latest high-grade results at Payns set the stage for a pivotal phase of exploration that could reshape Wallbrook’s gold resource profile.

Questions in the middle?

  • How will the new regional drilling results impact Wallbrook’s overall resource estimates?
  • What are the timelines and plans for infill drilling to convert exploration success into a defined resource?
  • Could the proximity to Northern Star’s operations facilitate future joint ventures or strategic partnerships?
