Fiesta Project Diamond Drilling Yields Up to 0.8% Copper Over 45m Intercept
Noronex Limited’s maiden diamond drilling at the Fiesta Copper Project in Namibia has validated multiple copper mineralised zones, setting the stage for a significant upcoming drilling campaign funded by South32.
- Final diamond hole 25FIEDD028 confirms multiple copper-silver mineralised intercepts
- Diamond drilling program at Fiesta completed; rig demobilised
- 7,000m Reverse Circulation drilling program to commence shortly
- Program funded under South32 earn-in agreement
- Oosterwald diamond hole completed with no significant copper intercepts but remains prospective
Diamond Drilling Validates Copper Mineralisation
Noronex Limited (ASX – NRX) has announced encouraging results from its maiden diamond drilling program at the Fiesta Copper Project in Namibia. The final diamond drill hole, 25FIEDD028, successfully confirmed multiple zones of copper mineralisation previously identified by reverse circulation (RC) drilling. These intercepts include significant copper and silver grades over various intervals, reinforcing the prospectivity of the Eastern Lens at Fiesta.
The diamond hole intersected several mineralised zones, including 26 meters at 0.5% copper and 13 grams per tonne silver from 171 meters depth. This drilling was designed to twin a prior wide intercept of 45 meters at 0.8% copper, providing valuable data on the style and true width of the mineralisation.
Transition to Large-Scale RC Drilling
With the diamond drilling phase now complete and the rig demobilised, Noronex is poised to launch a substantial 7,000-meter RC drilling program later this month. This next phase, funded by South32 Limited under a previously announced earn-in agreement, aims to test numerous targets across recently granted tenements. The partnership with South32 underscores confidence in the project’s potential and provides significant financial backing for ongoing exploration.
Noronex’s Managing Director and CEO, Victor Rajasooriar, highlighted that the diamond drilling results confirm copper mineralisation continues at depth and expressed optimism about unlocking further value through the upcoming RC program.
Oosterwald Drilling and Regional Context
Alongside Fiesta, diamond drilling at the Oosterwald prospect was completed with a 599.7-meter hole. Although no significant copper mineralisation was intersected, the geological setting remains prospective, with structural complexities and alteration indicating potential for future discoveries. The Fiesta and Oosterwald projects lie within the Kalahari Copper Belt, a region known for significant sediment-hosted copper deposits, including the nearby Khoemacau Copper Project in Botswana.
The mineralisation style at Fiesta is consistent with sedimentary copper systems, hosted in shales and siltstones with copper sulphides such as chalcocite, bornite, and chalcopyrite. The drilling results, combined with detailed geological logging and sampling, provide a robust foundation for resource development and further exploration.
Strategic Implications and Next Steps
Noronex’s ongoing collaboration with South32, which includes funding commitments of up to A$15 million over five years, positions the company well to advance its Humpback-Damara Project and other tenements in the region. The upcoming RC drilling campaign will be critical in delineating extensions of known mineralisation and testing new targets, potentially expanding the resource base.
While the true widths of mineralised intercepts remain to be fully determined, the current data supports the geological model and encourages continued exploration. Investors and industry watchers will be keenly awaiting the results of the RC program, which could significantly enhance the project’s value proposition.
Bottom Line?
Noronex’s confirmed copper zones at Fiesta set the stage for a pivotal RC drilling campaign that could reshape its resource outlook.
Questions in the middle?
- What will the upcoming 7,000m RC drilling reveal about the extent of copper mineralisation?
- How will South32’s earn-in funding influence Noronex’s exploration strategy and timelines?
- Can the Oosterwald prospect deliver significant mineralisation despite the recent negative drill results?
