GenusPlus Wins Major Battery Storage Contract

GenusPlus Group Ltd (ASX, GNP), a specialist in power and communications infrastructure, has been selected by Alinta Energy to complete the delivery of a significant Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at the Wagerup Power Station in Western Australia. The project involves a 100MW/200MWh battery, designed to stabilise the South West Interconnected System (SWIS) and provide critical backup capacity.

The contract, valued at approximately $50 million, covers the remaining construction and commissioning works, known as Balance of Plant Works. GenusPlus plans to deploy around 100 personnel, predominantly sourced locally from Western Australia, underscoring its commitment to regional engagement and local content.

Strategic Importance and Market Positioning

This award not only marks a substantial contract win for GenusPlus but also deepens its existing relationship with Alinta Energy, following an earlier contract for the Reeves Plains BESS project in South Australia.
