Bronzewing South Drilling Reveals Untested Gold Zones, Raising Exploration Stakes

Exploration Breakthrough at Bronzewing South

Hammer Metals Limited (ASX, HMX) has unveiled encouraging assay results from its ongoing diamond drilling program at the Bronzewing South Project, located adjacent to the historically significant Bronzewing gold deposit in Western Australia’s Yandal Belt. The highlight includes a visible gold zone returning a high-grade intercept of 15.5 grams per tonne (g/t) gold over 0.48 metres, embedded within a broader mineralised interval of 8.95 metres at 1.32 g/t gold.

This discovery, situated approximately 40 metres south of the Bronzewing Mining Lease boundary, underscores the potential for a continuous south-trending gold mineralisation zone that has been largely overlooked by previous air-core drilling campaigns. The inadequacy of earlier shallow drilling is now apparent, opening a significant search space for Hammer Metals to explore.

Structural Corridor and Multiple Targets

The company’s exploration extends beyond the Eastern Target Zone, with diamond drilling also underway at the Central Target approximately 1.7 kilometres south. Here, intense quartz veining and brecciation have been intersected, associated with historical gold anomalies. These geological features mirror those controlling mineralisation at the adjacent Bronzewing gold mine, suggesting a promising structural corridor that could link multiple zones of gold mineralisation across the project area.

Hammer Metals’ Managing Director, Daniel Thomas, emphasised the significance of these findings, noting that the mineralised structure could extend for hundreds of metres and that follow-up drilling will test the zone further south where no previous drilling has occurred. The company is optimistic about the potential to delineate an economically viable gold deposit within this largely untested corridor.

Ongoing Drilling and Future Prospects

The diamond drilling program is progressing with multiple tails extending from reverse circulation precollars, targeting key zones of quartz veining and alteration. Assay results are being received progressively, with further updates expected through September and October. In addition to drilling, Hammer Metals is conducting soil sampling and geophysical surveys to refine targeting across its extensive tenement holdings.

While the current results are promising, the true width and continuity of the mineralisation remain to be fully established. The company’s methodical approach, combining modern diamond drilling techniques with advanced photon assay analysis, aims to overcome historical sampling challenges, particularly the notorious nugget effect common in gold deposits.

Context Within the Yandal Gold Belt

The Bronzewing South Project benefits from its proximity to the 2.3 million-ounce Bronzewing gold deposit, historically mined by Northern Star Resources. The Yandal Greenstone Belt is a prolific gold province hosting several world-class deposits. Hammer Metals’ strategic tenement position and recent exploration success position it well to make a significant discovery that could add value to the region’s gold production profile.
