Metal Hawk Strikes High-Grade Gold at Leinster South: What’s Next?

Initial Drilling Success at Leinster South

Metal Hawk Limited (ASX – MHK) has reported encouraging results from its first-ever reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the Leinster South Project in Western Australia’s prolific Agnew-Lawlers gold region. The company completed 55 holes totaling 5,528 metres, intersecting multiple zones of high-grade gold mineralisation across three key prospects – Thylacine, Siberian Tiger, and Tysons.

The standout intercept came from the Thylacine prospect, where assays revealed a peak result of 1 metre grading 13.87 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 47 metres depth. Other notable intercepts include 2 metres at 7.87 g/t Au at Siberian Tiger and a 13-metre zone averaging 0.71 g/t Au at Tysons, highlighting the potential breadth of mineralisation within the project area.

Geological Insights and Exploration Strategy

Metal Hawk’s Managing Director, Will Belbin, emphasised the significance of these early results, noting that the drilling has confirmed a high tenor gold system with mineralisation hosted in quartz-sulphide veins and associated altered host rocks. The company is developing a geological model that suggests a deeper gold system beneath the known veins at Thylacine, supported by subtle magnetic anomalies and alteration signatures indicative of higher temperature mineralisation.

To refine targeting ahead of the next drilling phase, Metal Hawk has commissioned a high-resolution Sub-Audio Magnetics (SAM) survey and is conducting detailed ground magnetic surveys. These geophysical tools aim to delineate structural controls and zones of alteration that commonly host gold mineralisation in the region.

Next Steps – Diamond Drilling and Regional Exploration

Building on the RC drilling success, the company is preparing to commence diamond drilling in October to test the down-dip extensions of the Thylacine mineralisation and to better understand the structural and lithological framework. This deeper drilling will provide critical data to assess the continuity and grade of the mineralised system at depth.

Meanwhile, exploration continues across the broader Leinster South tenements, with a focus on the granite-greenstone contact zones that have historically received limited attention but show promising alteration and gold anomalism. An extensive airborne magnetic and radiometric survey is also planned to support regional target generation, including over the recently pegged Pepperill Hill project area.

Encouraging Early Signs in a Proven Gold District

The Leinster South Project lies within the Agnew Greenstone Belt, a well-known host to significant gold deposits such as Agnew-Lawlers and Thunderbox. Metal Hawk’s initial drilling results add a new chapter to this prolific district, suggesting the presence of a significant, previously untested gold system. While true widths of mineralisation remain to be confirmed, the consistent high-grade intercepts and geological indicators provide a strong foundation for further exploration.
