Barton Gold Uncovers New High-Grade Extensions at Tolmer Prospect

Mining By Maxwell Dee 3 min read

Barton Gold Holdings reveals promising soil assay results from its Tolmer and Black Oak Tank prospects, indicating potential expansions of high-grade silver, gold, and lead mineralisation. Pending diamond drilling assays expected in November will further clarify these findings.

  • March 2025 hole ranks 5th highest-grade silver globally in H1 2025
  • Soil assays suggest northwest-southeast mineralisation trend at Tolmer
  • Potential new targets identified between western silver and eastern gold zones
  • Continuous gold anomalism detected at Black Oak Tank prospect
  • Diamond drilling assay results pending, expected early November 2025

Exploration Breakthrough at Tolmer

Barton Gold Holdings Limited has announced encouraging soil assay results from its Tolmer and Black Oak Tank prospects within the Tarcoola Gold Project in South Australia. The assays reveal significant potential for extensions of high-grade silver, gold, and lead mineralisation, particularly in the western silver zone at Tolmer.

Notably, a discovery hole drilled in March 2025 at Tolmer delivered an exceptional silver intersection, ranking as the fifth highest-grade globally during the first half of 2025. This intersection featured 6 metres at an extraordinary 4,747 grams per tonne silver from a shallow depth of just 46 metres, underscoring the prospect’s rich mineral potential.

Soil Sampling Reveals New Structural Insights

Recent ultrafine soil sampling programs, conducted over a 1.9-kilometre area around Tolmer and a 23-square-kilometre area at Black Oak Tank, have provided fresh insights into the mineralisation controls. The assays suggest a northwest-southeast orientation of mineralisation in the western silver zone, with broad surface anomalies in gold, silver, and lead. These findings hint at material extensions beyond the current drilling footprint.

Moreover, the soil data has identified previously untested coincident anomalies between the western silver and eastern gold zones, presenting new secondary targets that could mirror the high-grade footprint of the western silver zone. At Black Oak Tank, continuous low-level gold anomalism aligns with interpreted structural features, suggesting the potential for basement-hosted gold mineralisation along faults parallel to the Lake Labyrinth Shear Zone.

Awaiting Diamond Drilling Assays to Guide Next Steps

Barton recently completed a diamond drilling program comprising three holes totaling nearly 600 metres in the eastern gold zone at Tolmer. The core samples are currently being processed, with assay results expected in early November 2025. These results are anticipated to provide critical structural interpretations that will refine targeting strategies and guide follow-up drilling campaigns.

Managing Director Alexander Scanlon emphasised the importance of integrating these soil assay results with pending drilling data to better understand local structural controls and unlock further exploration opportunities.

Broader Project Context and Future Outlook

The Tarcoola Gold Project, situated in the renowned Gawler Craton, hosts multiple prospects with significant gold and silver resources. Barton Gold’s portfolio includes brownfield mines and the region’s only gold mill, positioning the company well for advancing towards production targets.

While the soil assays at the Challenger Gold Project’s 308 prospect did not yield material results, the positive developments at Tolmer and Black Oak Tank reinforce Barton’s exploration momentum. The company plans to continue integrating geochemical data with drilling results to systematically expand its resource base.

Bottom Line?

With diamond drilling assays imminent, Barton Gold’s evolving structural insights at Tolmer could unlock substantial resource growth.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will the November diamond drilling assays confirm the extent of high-grade mineralisation at Tolmer?
  • How might the newly identified targets between the western silver and eastern gold zones impact resource estimates?
  • What exploration strategies will Barton adopt at Black Oak Tank to capitalize on continuous gold anomalism?
