Metal Hawk Plans 1,600m Diamond Drilling After High-Grade Gold Hits

Exploration Advances at Thylacine

Metal Hawk Limited (ASX, MHK) is progressing its exploration campaign at the Leinster South Project in Western Australia, with a focus on the Thylacine gold prospect. The company is preparing to commence diamond drilling aimed at testing deeper zones within this large, high-grade gold system. This move follows the completion of detailed ground magnetic surveys that have sharpened the understanding of key structural and magnetic anomalies, enabling more precise targeting.

The planned diamond drilling will cover at least 1,600 metres, focusing on several priority targets including the intersection of a prominent east-west trending dolerite dyke with northeast trending structures, an unexplained magnetic high near the granite-greenstone contact, and a demagnetised zone along the northern flank of the central Thylacine area. These features are considered prospective for thicker zones of gold mineralisation, potentially expanding the known resource footprint.

Complementary Geophysical Surveys

In addition to the diamond drilling, Metal Hawk is initiating a Sub-Audio Magnetics (SAM) survey over the broader Thylacine and Tysons prospects. Scheduled for late October, this UAV-assisted survey aims to detect structural trends and conductive zones indicative of alteration or shearing; hallmarks of gold mineralisation in the region. The SAM data, combined with the existing ground magnetics, will refine structural interpretations and support ongoing target generation.

Meanwhile, an extensive 3,877-line kilometre high-resolution airborne magnetic and radiometric survey is underway across the northern Leinster South and Pepperill Hill project areas. This survey will provide comprehensive geophysical coverage, digital terrain models, and radiometric data to guide and accelerate regional exploration efforts. Early reviews have already identified multiple areas of interest warranting further investigation.

Building on Encouraging Drilling Results

Metal Hawk’s recent reverse circulation (RC) drilling at Thylacine intersected high-grade gold mineralisation, with assays up to 13.9 grams per tonne associated with quartz-sulphide veins. These results underpin the company’s confidence in the prospect’s potential and justify the upcoming diamond drilling campaign targeting deeper and structurally complex zones.

Managing Director Will Belbin highlighted the value of the detailed ground magnetic data in fine-tuning drill targets and expressed optimism about testing the deeper parts of the system. The integration of multiple geophysical techniques and expanding regional exploration footprint reflects Metal Hawk’s methodical approach to unlocking value across its tenements.
