Exploration Update at Arrakis

Yandal Resources Ltd (ASX – YRL) has released the final results from its recent reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the Arrakis Prospect, part of the broader Caladan target area within the Ironstone-Well Barwidgee Gold Project in Western Australia. The seven-hole RC program, designed to test mineralisation continuity below earlier air-core intercepts, has confirmed Arrakis as a new gold discovery with mineralisation extending over a 2.2-kilometre strike length.

While two of the RC holes (25IWBRC0044 and 25IWBRC0046) ended short of the targeted mineralised structure, geological logging suggests these holes provide ideal pre-collars for upcoming diamond drilling. The company has mobilised a diamond core rig, with drilling expected to commence imminently. This program, spanning approximately 2,000 metres, aims to extend the RC holes with diamond tails and test below recent significant intercepts, with assay results anticipated in December.

Significant Intercepts and Geological Insights

Previous drilling highlights include intercepts such as 54 metres at 1.2 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 108 metres depth, including higher-grade zones within this interval. The recent RC drilling has helped refine the understanding of the mineralised system’s geometry, although true widths of mineralisation remain uncertain pending further drilling. The company’s Managing Director, Chris Oorschot, noted that intense alteration and deformation observed in the final RC holes indicate proximity to the target structure, reinforcing the rationale for diamond tails to reach the mineralisation.

The Arrakis discovery is part of an exploration strategy focused on identifying large-scale gold systems. The broad drill spacing used so far (400m to 800m lines) has been effective in delineating the mineralised trend, but upcoming programs will employ closer 200m spaced lines to better define the extent and variability of mineralisation along strike and at depth.

Upcoming Drilling and Exploration Plans

Following the diamond drilling program, Yandal Resources plans a substantial 5,000-metre RC drilling campaign commencing in November. This will target the Arrakis trend with tighter drill spacing to build a more detailed geological and grade model. Concurrently, heritage surveys are underway to facilitate this expanded drilling activity.

The company’s recent A$13.5 million capital raising provides strong financial backing to accelerate exploration not only at Arrakis but also across other promising targets within the Ironstone-Well Barwidgee Project, including the New England Granite area and the Flushing Meadows deposit. Yandal maintains a robust cash position and an active exploration schedule through 2025 and into 2026.

Strategic Context and Regional Significance

Located approximately 60 kilometres south of the established Jundee mining complex and within the prolific Yandal Greenstone Belt, the Arrakis Prospect adds to Yandal Resources’ growing portfolio of advanced gold exploration assets. The discovery’s scale and continuity suggest potential for a mineralised system of regional significance, aligning with the company’s goal of delivering large-scale gold discoveries.

As the company advances its drilling programs and awaits assay results, the market will be watching closely for indications of resource growth and the potential to define a new gold resource in this highly prospective region.

Bottom Line?

Diamond drilling results expected in December will be pivotal in confirming the scale and grade of the Arrakis gold system.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will the diamond tails confirm the continuity and true width of the Arrakis mineralisation?
  • How will the upcoming 5,000m RC program refine the geological model and resource potential?
  • What impact will the recent capital raising have on accelerating exploration and potential resource development?
