DY6 Metals Ltd (ASX, DY6) has commenced a significant maiden auger drilling program at its flagship Central Rutile Project in Cameroon, marking a decisive step forward in unlocking the potential of one of the world's emerging rutile provinces. The 91-hole program focuses on the Bounde and Nganda licences, areas that have already demonstrated high-grade rutile mineralisation from surface sampling and historical geological mapping.

The Central Rutile Project spans a vast 8,782 square kilometres of highly prospective terrain in Central Cameroon, underlain by bedrock formations known to host rutile mineralisation. Rutile, a valuable titanium dioxide mineral used extensively in pigments and industrial applications, has been identified here in both residual and alluvial deposits. Historic production in the region between 1935 and 1955 yielded approximately 15,000 tons of high-purity rutile, underscoring the area's long-standing mineral potential.

High-Grade Targets and Strategic Infrastructure

DY6’s exploration strategy is underpinned by encouraging early results, including coarse rutile nuggets grading up to 97.5% titanium dioxide and shallow auger intercepts such as 1.35 metres at 0.84% rutile from surface. These findings, combined with extensive mapping by the French geological survey (BRGM) of a 70km by 15km high-grade rutile zone, have given the company confidence to accelerate drilling activities ahead of completing its soil sampling campaign.

To support this intensified exploration effort, DY6 has expanded its in-country team and secured a dedicated warehouse facility for a heavy mineral sands laboratory. This infrastructure will enable rapid sample processing and continuous drilling operations through 2025 and into 2026, positioning DY6 to maintain momentum and deliver a steady stream of assay results critical for advancing towards a maiden resource estimate.
