Big Sarah’s Early Drilling Raises Questions on Resource Scale and Production Timing
Black Cat Syndicate reports promising gold intersections from its inaugural drilling at Big Sarah, part of the Paulsens Gold Project, revealing multiple mineralised lodes and setting the stage for expanded exploration.
- Initial 14-hole RC drilling program completed at Big Sarah
- Gold mineralisation intersected in 10 of 14 holes
- Multiple lodes identified at depth within Central Vein Corridor
- Big Sarah lies within a newly defined ~7km vein corridor
- Follow-up drilling and surface exploration planned as priority
Exploration Breakthrough at Big Sarah
Black Cat Syndicate Limited (ASX – BC8) has released results from its first-ever drilling campaign at the Big Sarah prospect, a relatively underexplored area within the Paulsens Gold Project in Western Australia. The initial reverse circulation (RC) program comprised 14 holes totaling 1,692 metres, targeting the Central Vein Corridor; a recently identified structure stretching approximately 7 kilometres.
The assays reveal encouraging gold grades, with mineralisation intersected in 10 of the 14 holes. Highlights include intercepts such as 3 metres at 2.62 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 86 metres depth, including a higher-grade 1 metre interval at 5.58 g/t. These results confirm the presence of multiple mineralised lodes at depth, validating Black Cat’s geological model and exploration approach.
A Small Program with Big Potential
While the drilling program covered only a fraction of the Central Vein Corridor’s strike length, the discovery of at least two distinct lodes beneath surface mineralisation is a significant step forward. Historically, Big Sarah has seen limited exploration and no prior drilling despite evidence of high-grade gold at surface, including rock samples exceeding 24 g/t. The current results suggest that Big Sarah could represent a meaningful extension of the Paulsens mineral system.
Managing Director Gareth Solly emphasised the strategic importance of Big Sarah, noting that the results align with Black Cat’s “More Gold, Sooner” strategy. Proximity to the operational Paulsens underground mine and processing facilities enhances the prospect’s appeal, potentially accelerating the pathway to production if further drilling confirms continuity and scale.
Next Steps and Broader Exploration Context
Black Cat plans to prioritise follow-up drilling and surface exploration to delineate the extent of mineralisation and test additional targets within the broader Paulsens tenure. The company is concurrently advancing other projects, including ongoing underground drilling at Paulsens and exploration at Mt Clement and Kal East.
The Big Sarah results add a new dimension to Black Cat’s portfolio, reinforcing the company’s regional growth potential. With a robust resource base already established at Paulsens and Kal East, the discovery of new lodes at Big Sarah could contribute to extending mine life and increasing production volumes in the medium term.
Bottom Line?
Big Sarah’s initial drilling success opens a promising new chapter for Black Cat’s Paulsens region exploration.
Questions in the middle?
- How extensive and continuous are the gold lodes identified at Big Sarah?
- What are the potential resource and reserve implications from further drilling?
- How quickly can Big Sarah be integrated into Black Cat’s production pipeline?
