A Growing Copper Discovery

Antares Metals Limited (ASX, AM5) has unveiled a fresh batch of high-grade copper results from its Cromwell prospect within the Mount Isa North Project. The latest rock chip samples, including those from a previously untested "D" shear zone, have returned copper grades as high as 20.5%, extending the known mineralised zone eastward. This follows earlier results that reported grades up to 22.5% copper from the "A" shear zone, underscoring the prospect’s significant potential.

The Cromwell discovery spans a remarkable 9 kilometres of strike length, with mineralisation open along strike and at depth. The mineralised system is characterised by shear-hosted quartz-carbonate veins, some up to 3 metres wide, combining to form zones as wide as 30 metres. The recent sampling campaign collected 15 new rock chip samples, 11 of which exceeded 1% copper, reinforcing the scale and continuity of the mineralisation.

Insights into the 'D' and 'A' Veins

The "D" vein, located approximately 900 metres east of the main "A" vein, was mapped over 200 metres before being obscured by surface cover. Samples from this zone revealed copper oxide mineralisation with grades up to 20.5% copper, including a high-grade quartz vein with malachite and chrysocolla. This suggests the presence of additional concealed high-grade veins beneath surface cover, enhancing the prospect’s exploration upside.

Meanwhile, the "A" vein continues to demonstrate robust mineralisation, with eight out of ten samples exceeding 1% copper. These samples were predominantly collected from the southern extent of the vein, indicating that copper mineralisation extends along a north-south trending splay structure branching from the major Paroo fault. Together, these findings suggest a complex and extensive mineralised system with multiple targets for further exploration.

Antares Metals plans to advance exploration with geophysical surveys, including airborne gravity, magnetics, and detailed electrical methods, to identify mineral concentration zones and potential drill targets. Field teams will continue mapping and sampling across the Mount Isa North project area to refine target rankings and systematically progress prospects.
