Lake Hope Project Acquisition and Economics

Impact Minerals Limited has taken a significant step forward by issuing 120 million shares to acquire an 80% interest in Playa One Pty Ltd, the owner of the Lake Hope High Purity Alumina (HPA) Project in Western Australia. This follows a Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) that revealed robust project economics, including a net present value (NPV10) of A$1.165 billion, an initial capital expenditure of A$259 million, and operating costs potentially below US$4,500 per tonne when by-product credits are considered.

The Lake Hope resource is notable for its surface accessibility and simple mining requirements, which contribute to its low capital and operating costs. Impact is now progressing a Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS), supported by a CRC-P co-funding grant, which includes pilot plant construction and evaluation of integrating Lake Hope feedstock with the proprietary HiPurA® process.

Advancements at Alluminous Pty Ltd

Impact’s 50% stake in Alluminous Pty Ltd is advancing the commercialisation of the HiPurA® technology platform, a modular solvent extraction method designed to produce high-purity alumina efficiently. The pilot plant in Perth is undergoing commissioning, with key systems installed and batch processing underway. The recent appointment of Tim Netscher, an experienced mining executive, as Non-Executive Chair signals a strategic push towards disciplined growth and customer engagement.

Alluminous is actively engaging with battery and advanced materials companies, exploring applications beyond traditional HPA products, including battery separators and materials for solid-state batteries. The company aims to accelerate customer qualification and scale-up, with a focus on near-term revenue milestones.

Commonwealth Project Joint Venture with Kuniko

In New South Wales, Impact has entered a joint venture with Kuniko Limited over the Commonwealth gold-silver-copper project, located in the prolific Lachlan Fold Belt. Kuniko will earn up to a 70% interest by spending $3 million over four years, while Impact retains a 30% free-carried interest until a Decision to Mine. The project hosts inferred resources of gold, silver, zinc, and lead, with geological similarities to world-class deposits such as Eskay Creek in Canada.

Exploration and Corporate Developments

Exploration activities continue at Impact’s other projects, including a magnetotelluric survey at Broken Hill and soil geochemistry surveys at the Southern Sky Joint Venture. The company also reviewed its Arkun project, relinquishing approximately half the ground to focus on core targets.

To fund these initiatives, Impact completed a heavily oversubscribed strategic placement raising A$4.1 million at a 22% discount to recent trading prices. The funds will support ongoing feasibility work at Lake Hope, further investment in Alluminous, and copper exploration at Broken Hill. Cash at the end of September stood at A$4.96 million, providing a solid financial footing for upcoming milestones.

Bottom Line?

With strong project fundamentals and strategic partnerships, Impact Minerals is poised for critical developments in HPA and precious metals markets.

Questions in the middle?

  • How will integration of Lake Hope feedstock with the HiPurA® process impact project economics?
  • What timelines are expected for pilot plant commissioning to translate into commercial production?
  • How will Kuniko’s farm-in expenditure milestones influence exploration and development at Commonwealth?
