How Alara Resources Boosted Copper Output by 77% with New Tailings Presses
Alara Resources has reported a significant production uplift at its Al Wash-hi Majaza mine following the commissioning of two new tailings filter presses, alongside securing the Daris 3A5 mining license and initiating drilling at the Al Mansur Prospect.
- 77% increase in average daily copper concentrate production at Al Wash-hi Majaza
- Award of Daris 3A5 mining license strengthens Oman portfolio
- Maiden drilling program commenced at Al Mansur Prospect in Block 8
- Five copper-gold concentrate shipments totaling 1515.5 MT copper and 11.89 kg gold dispatched
- Appointment of new Chairman John Shingleton enhances governance
Operational Breakthrough at Al Wash-hi Majaza
Alara Resources has marked a pivotal quarter with the successful installation and commissioning of two tailings filter presses at its flagship Al Wash-hi Majaza copper-gold project in Oman. This upgrade has driven a remarkable 77% surge in average daily copper concentrate production, lifting output from 78.56 wet metric tonnes (WMT) to 139.05 WMT in August 2025. The enhanced processing efficiency underscores Alara’s commitment to operational excellence and positions the company well for sustained production growth.
Alongside this, the company dispatched five shipments of copper-gold concentrate during the quarter, delivering 1515.5 metric tonnes of copper metal and nearly 12 kilograms of gold. Cumulatively, 25 shipments have been made to date, reflecting steady commercial progress.
Strategic Expansion with Daris 3A5 Mining License
In a significant regulatory milestone, Alara secured the Daris 3A5 mining license within its Block 7 concession. This license covers a high-grade copper-gold zone previously validated by drilling, and its award strengthens Alara’s foothold in Oman’s evolving mining landscape. The Daris project is integral to Alara’s “hub and spoke” development strategy, with ore from Daris intended for processing at Al Wash-hi Majaza’s plant, enhancing operational synergies.
Following the license grant, Alara plans to advance geophysical surveys, diamond core drilling, and metallurgical test work to define mineral resources and reserves under the JORC Code, setting the stage for detailed mine planning and potential production ramp-up.
Exploration Momentum at Al Mansur and Beyond
Exploration activities accelerated with the commencement of a maiden reconnaissance diamond core drilling program at the Al Mansur Prospect in Block 8. This drilling targets two strong gravity anomalies identified through recent geophysical surveys, which may indicate massive sulphide mineralisation. The initial nine-hole program aims to delineate mineralisation width, grade, and strike, with results expected next quarter.
Elsewhere, Alara continues to advance brownfield exploration at Al Wash-hi Majaza, with laboratory analysis of recently completed drilling samples anticipated by November 2025. These results will inform resource model updates and may lead to resource upgrades. Greenfield exploration is also planned to commence in December 2025, employing advanced geochemical techniques to uncover new targets.
Governance and Financial Position
Leadership changes saw the appointment of John Shingleton as the new Chairman, bringing extensive governance and commercial legal experience. This transition follows the resignation of Stephen Gethin, who had contributed significantly since 2018.
Financially, Alara raised approximately A$3.4 million through a private placement, which was partly used to reduce debt and cover interest payments. The company reported net cash used in operations of A$4.3 million for the quarter but maintains a healthy liquidity position with over four quarters of funding available, supported by unused financing facilities.
Health, safety, and environmental performance remained robust, with no lost time injuries recorded and ongoing training and monitoring programs ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Bottom Line?
With production gains and strategic licenses secured, Alara Resources is poised for a transformative phase; pending upcoming drill results and resource updates.
Questions in the middle?
- Will the upcoming Al Mansur drilling confirm economically viable mineralisation?
- How soon can Alara translate the Daris 3A5 license into production and cash flow?
- What impact will exploration results have on Alara’s resource base and valuation?
