Arika Resources has identified 20 high-priority gold targets at its underexplored Yundamindra South Project using advanced magnetic data, setting the stage for a major exploration push in 2026.
- 20 new high-priority gold targets defined via high-resolution magnetic data
- Targets based on structural models linked to multi-million-ounce regional deposits
- Yundamindra South covers nearly half of the project area and remains largely unexplored
- Surface geochemical surveys to start in Q1 2026, with drilling planned post-approval
- Ongoing drilling at Pennyweight Point with assays pending for 31 holes
A New Frontier at Yundamindra South
Arika Resources Limited (ASX:ARI) has taken a significant step forward in its exploration efforts by defining 20 new high-priority gold targets at the Yundamindra South Project in Western Australia. This development follows the interpretation of recently acquired high-resolution Total Magnetic Intensity (TMI) data, which has illuminated the complex geological and structural framework of an area previously untouched by modern exploration techniques.
Yundamindra South represents almost half of the total Yundamindra Project area, a region historically subjected only to small-scale prospecting. The new magnetic data reveals a structurally complex environment where intrusive granitic bodies interact with volcanic greenstone sequences, creating the kind of structural disruptions that have historically hosted some of the region’s most prolific gold deposits.
Targeting Proven Mineral Systems
The 20 targets identified are conceptually driven by well-established regional mineral system models and insights gained from Arika’s successful exploration at Yundamindra North. These targets fall into three main categories – shear-hosted gold within granite akin to the Granny Smith and Tarmoola deposits; structural intersections near granite-greenstone contacts reminiscent of Pennyweight Point-style gold; and magmatic copper-nickel-PGE targets associated with mafic-ultramafic intrusions.
Notably, none of these targets have been previously drill tested, underscoring the untapped potential of Yundamindra South. The structural interpretation highlights key corridors of northwest-trending shears intersected by north-south and northeast faults, which are critical conduits for mineralising fluids and prime locations for gold deposition.
Advancing Exploration and Drilling Plans
Arika’s Managing Director, Justin Barton, likened the new TMI dataset to “flicking on a light switch,” providing unprecedented clarity on the geological controls of mineralisation. This clarity has generated a robust pipeline of targets ready for systematic follow-up. Surface geochemical surveys are slated to commence in the first quarter of 2026, with drilling planned to follow regulatory approvals.
Meanwhile, drilling is actively underway at Pennyweight Point, targeting down-plunge extensions of previously reported high-grade intersections. Approximately 17,000 metres have been drilled in the current program, with assay results pending for 31 holes. These ongoing efforts complement the expanded target portfolio and aim to build on the promising results already achieved.
Strategic Position in a World-Class Gold District
The Yundamindra Project is strategically located 65 kilometres southwest of Laverton in the renowned northeastern goldfields of Western Australia. This district hosts multi-million-ounce gold mines such as Sunrise Dam and Wallaby, situated just 20 to 30 kilometres east of Arika’s tenure. The project’s location along the margin of a large granitic batholith adjacent to greenstone belts is a classic setting for orogenic gold deposits, enhancing the prospectivity of the newly defined targets.
Arika operates the project under a joint venture with Nex Metals, holding an 80% interest and acting as project manager. The company’s systematic approach, combining cutting-edge geophysical techniques with targeted drilling, positions it well to unlock significant value from this underexplored ground.
Bottom Line?
With a fresh suite of high-quality targets and drilling ramping up, Arika’s Yundamindra South could soon reshape the gold exploration landscape in the Laverton region.
Questions in the middle?
- How will pending assay results from Pennyweight Point influence the prioritisation of new targets?
- What regulatory hurdles remain before drilling can commence on the newly defined targets?
- Could the magmatic copper-nickel-PGE targets lead to discoveries beyond gold, diversifying project potential?
