Exploration Momentum Builds at Fairview South
Stavely Minerals Limited has initiated its third phase of reverse circulation (RC) drilling at the Fairview South gold prospect, part of the company’s wholly owned Stavely Copper-Gold Project in western Victoria. This latest drilling campaign aims to test the southern extensions of a recently discovered shallow gold mineralisation zone, which has already delivered encouraging assay results.
The standout result comes from drill hole SFSRC001, which intersected a broad 40-metre interval averaging 1.96 grams per tonne (g/t) gold starting from surface. Within this interval, higher-grade zones were identified, including 17 metres at 4.18 g/t and a remarkable 1-metre section grading 49.2 g/t gold. These grades underscore the prospect’s potential for significant economic mineralisation near surface.
Expanding the Known Mineralised Footprint
Complementing the drilling results, reconnaissance rock-chip sampling and soil auger programs have extended the gold anomaly approximately 600 metres south of the initial drill intercept. Several float rock-chip samples returned assays exceeding 1 g/t gold, with some as high as 25.6 g/t, indicating a substantial and continuous mineralised system. Additionally, soil geochemistry suggests a possible second parallel zone of gold mineralisation to the west of the main anomaly, offering new targets for follow-up drilling.
Stavely’s Executive Chair and Managing Director, Chris Cairns, highlighted the favourable structural setting of Fairview South, noting its position on the margins of a large magnetic feature interpreted as a buried intrusion. The complex alteration history, featuring quartz-sulphide veins and epithermal characteristics, adds to the prospect’s exploration appeal and potential for further discoveries.
Early-Stage Drilling at S41 Target
Alongside the Fairview South program, Stavely has commenced reconnaissance RC drilling at the S41 breccia-hosted gold target. This large hydrothermal system remains at an early exploration stage but is considered a high-priority target due to its scale and geological setting. The company believes RC drilling will provide a more efficient and cost-effective method to test beneath younger basalt cover compared to previous air-core drilling.
