Enegex Launches 3,500m Drilling Program Ahead of January 2026 Campaign
Enegex Limited has launched power auger drilling and trenching programs on its key permits in Côte d’Ivoire, following promising gold-in-soil anomalies and historical data. Four permit applications have also been approved, setting the stage for aircore drilling in early 2026.
- 1,500m power auger drilling underway on Tougbe Permit
- 2,000m power auger program planned on Gogo Permit targeting alluvial-covered zones
- Trenching initiated on NE Bonoubana to follow up high-grade gold-in-soil anomalies
- Four permit applications approved by Ministerial Council, pending formal grant
- Aircore and reverse circulation drilling scheduled for January 2026
Exploration Momentum Builds in Côte d’Ivoire
Enegex Limited has taken a significant step forward in its Côte d’Ivoire gold exploration campaign with the commencement of power auger drilling and trenching activities on its Tougbe and Gogo exploration permits. These efforts aim to delineate gold mineralisation zones ahead of more intensive drilling planned for early next year.
The 1,500-metre power auger program on the Tougbe Permit is designed to refine the outline of a known gold discovery, building on historical drilling results. This initial phase will help define precise targets for upcoming angled aircore drilling, expected to begin in January 2026. The program reflects a strategic pivot to prioritise the Bonoubana Trend, following recent high-grade soil geochemistry results.
Targeting Hidden Gold Under Alluvial Cover
On the adjacent Gogo Permit, a 2,000-metre power auger drilling program is set to test beneath alluvial and colluvial cover in the gap between the NE and S Bonoubana gold-in-soil anomalies. This area has shown extensive high-grade gold-in-soil anomalies, with values averaging 0.47 grams per tonne and peaks exceeding 4 grams per tonne, indicating significant near-surface mineralisation.
Complementing the drilling, trenching has commenced on NE Bonoubana to further investigate these anomalies. The trenching program is expected to provide critical geological context and assist in refining drill targets.
Permits Approved, Exploration Plans Accelerate
Adding to the positive momentum, Enegex has received approval from the Ministerial Council for four remaining permit applications, including Gogo West, Tougbe East, Toumodi, and Dimbokro. The official grant documents and fee payments are anticipated shortly, which will enable the company to formalise and expand its exploration activities across these strategically located permits.
These permits cover a combined area of over 1,500 square kilometres along the Birimian geological belt, a prolific gold-producing region in West Africa. The projects lie on extensions of structural corridors known to host major gold deposits, underscoring their exploration potential.
Looking Ahead to Drilling Campaigns
With power auger drilling and trenching underway, Enegex is positioning itself for a robust drilling campaign in January 2026, employing aircore and reverse circulation methods. These efforts aim to convert geochemical anomalies into drill-defined mineral resources, a critical step toward advancing the projects toward development.
Managing Director Paul Roberts expressed optimism about the progress, highlighting the company’s focus on the Bonoubana Trend and the anticipation of initial assay results within 4 to 5 weeks. The upcoming data will be pivotal in guiding the next phases of exploration and investment decisions.
Bottom Line?
Enegex’s advancing field programs and permit approvals set the stage for a pivotal drilling season that could reshape its Côte d’Ivoire gold prospects.
Questions in the middle?
- What will initial assay results reveal about the extent and grade of gold mineralisation?
- How might the official permit grants influence exploration timelines and capital allocation?
- Could the Bonoubana Trend emerge as a major new gold discovery in West Africa?
