Strong Auger Drilling Defines Large Gold Target
Enegex Limited has announced compelling results from its recent power auger drilling program at the Tougbe exploration permit in Côte d’Ivoire. The program has delineated a substantial gold mineralised zone measuring approximately 650 metres in length and over 100 metres wide, covering an area of about 10 hectares. These results not only confirm but in some cases improve upon historical aircore drilling data, suggesting a broad and significant gold system.
The power auger drilling comprised 70 holes totalling 1,129 metres, with composite samples taken generally every 4 metres. Noteworthy intercepts include 18 metres at 1.59 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, including 8 metres at 3.22 g/t from surface, and other intervals showing consistent mineralisation. Historical aircore results within the same target area also reported substantial widths and grades, reinforcing the prospectivity of the zone.
Geological Context and Mineralisation Style
The gold mineralisation is interpreted as multiple sets of steeply dipping quartz veins hosted within metasedimentary rocks. This structural setting aligns with the major northeast-trending fault corridors known to host orogenic gold deposits in the region. The presence of quartz veining in anomalous samples supports the interpretation of vein-hosted gold mineralisation, although the vertical nature of the auger holes limits precise orientation analysis.
Given the limitations of vertical auger drilling for this style of mineralisation, Enegex plans to undertake an angled aircore drilling program of approximately 3,000 metres starting in early February. This follow-up drilling aims to better define the thickness and orientation of the gold-bearing zones, providing a clearer picture of the deposit’s potential.
Expanding Exploration Footprint and Progress at Gogo Permit
In addition to the Tougbe results, Enegex has received government grant documents for four new exploration permits, Tougbe East, Gogo West, Toumodi, and Dimbokro. These permits expand the company’s strategic landholding in the prolific Birimian gold belts of West Africa. Reconnaissance mapping and geochemical sampling programs are planned to commence shortly across these new areas.
Meanwhile, at the adjacent Gogo permit, trenching and power auger drilling have been completed with assay results pending. The company has identified new structural targets and plans further soil sampling and drilling, indicating a methodical approach to advancing its Côte d’Ivoire portfolio.
