Sun Silver Doubles Maverick Springs Landholding, Boosting Exploration Scope

Strategic Expansion of Maverick Springs

Sun Silver Limited (ASX – SS1) has taken a significant step forward in its exploration ambitions by more than doubling the land area of its flagship Maverick Springs Silver-Gold Project in Nevada, USA. The company announced the staking of 427 additional lode claims, adding approximately 35.7 square kilometres to its existing footprint and representing a 219% increase in total project landholding.

This expansion is not just about size; it is a calculated move to secure highly prospective ground along strike of the current mineral resource. The newly acquired claims lie to the north and south of the existing resource, positioning Sun Silver to explore extensions of known mineralisation and potentially uncover new zones of silver and gold deposits.

Building on a Robust Resource Base

The Maverick Springs Project already boasts a substantial JORC Inferred Mineral Resource estimated at 237 million tonnes grading 45.5 grams per tonne silver and 0.30 grams per tonne gold. This equates to approximately 347 million ounces of silver and 2.25 million ounces of gold, or 539 million ounces of silver equivalent. Importantly, the deposit remains open along strike and at depth, suggesting that the resource could grow with further exploration.

Sun Silver’s Managing Director, Andrew Dornan, emphasised the strategic nature of the land acquisition, highlighting that the expanded landholding not only increases the potential for additional discoveries but also provides critical flexibility for future development infrastructure. This dual benefit underscores the company’s commitment to disciplined capital management while pursuing long-term value creation for shareholders.

Nevada’s Premier Mining Jurisdiction

Located just 85 kilometres from Elko, a well-serviced mining hub, Maverick Springs benefits from proximity to world-class operations such as Barrick’s Carlin Mine. Nevada’s status as the top mining jurisdiction globally, as rated by the Fraser Institute in 2022, adds further appeal to Sun Silver’s project, offering a supportive regulatory environment and established infrastructure.

The expanded land position strategically aligns with the prolific Carlin Trend, a renowned gold and silver mining district, enhancing the likelihood that the new claims will yield valuable mineralisation. This geographic advantage, combined with the company’s recent successful drilling campaigns, positions Sun Silver well for the next phase of exploration and development.
