GoldArc Resources Limited (ASX, GA8) has delivered encouraging results from its inaugural Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling program at the Leonora South Gold Project in Western Australia. The company’s maiden effort has successfully identified new gold mineralised systems at three key prospects, Woodpecker, Whistler, and Niagara West.
The shallow drilling campaign, comprising 37 holes totaling 1,823 metres, was designed to test historical workings and high-priority geological targets that had seen limited or no previous drilling. Notably, the Whistler prospect was drilled for the first time, revealing promising gold mineralisation that had remained untested until now.
High-Grade Intercepts Signal Potential
Among the standout results were several high-grade gold intercepts over narrow intervals, including 3 metres at 4.89 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 36 metres depth at Woodpecker, and 3 metres at 4.91 g/t gold from 12 metres at Euroa within the Niagara West prospect. Whistler returned a notable 3 metres at 1.23 g/t gold from just 12 metres, confirming the presence of a mineralised system in an area previously untouched by drilling.
These intercepts, while from initial shallow drilling, provide a strong validation of GoldArc’s exploration model. The mineralisation is associated with quartz veining near contacts between mafic and granitic rocks, consistent with known gold-bearing structures in the region.
