PMET Resources Unveils Record Lithium Grades and New Discovery at Shaakichiuwaanaan

Mining By Maxwell Dee 3 min read

PMET Resources has reported its highest-grade lithium intercepts to date from the Vega Zone and announced a new high-grade lithium-tantalum discovery at the Helios Zone within its Shaakichiuwaanaan Property in Quebec. The extensive 2025 drilling campaign further cements the project’s status as a critical mineral hub in North America.

  • Record high-grade lithium intercepts at Vega Zone including 7.71% Li2O samples
  • New Helios Zone discovery with significant lithium and tantalum mineralization
  • Completion of 57,024 metres of diamond drilling across multiple pegmatite zones
  • Pending assay results for caesium with overlimit analyses underway
  • Plans for updated economic study and underground bulk sampling in 2026

A Landmark Drilling Campaign

PMET Resources Inc. has delivered a compelling update from its 2025 diamond drilling campaign at the Shaakichiuwaanaan Property in Quebec, Canada. The company reported wide and exceptionally high-grade lithium intercepts, particularly from the Vega Zone within the CV13 Pegmatite, alongside a newly discovered lithium-tantalum zone dubbed Helios. These results represent the strongest spodumene mineralization ever recorded on the property, underscoring the project's growing significance in the critical minerals landscape.

Record Grades at Vega and a New Discovery at Helios

The Vega Zone yielded standout intercepts such as 55 metres at 2.58% lithium oxide (Li2O), including a remarkable 29.9 metres at 4.11% Li2O, and individual core samples grading as high as 7.71% Li2O. These figures not only surpass previous highs on the property but also place Vega among the world’s most robust spodumene occurrences. Meanwhile, the Helios Zone, a new shallow discovery at CV13, has revealed promising lithium grades up to 4.60% Li2O over 5.4 metres, coupled with tantalum mineralization and significant caesium potential pending assay confirmation.

Expansive Drilling and Resource Growth

The 2025 campaign was extensive, comprising 245 drill holes totalling over 57,000 metres across multiple pegmatite prospects including CV4, CV5, CV8, CV12, and CV13. Notably, the CV4 Pegmatite was maiden drilled this year, revealing mineralization that may extend the CV5 pegmatite trend by approximately 1.5 kilometres. Additional lithium and tantalum intercepts from the Rigel and CV8 zones further enhance the resource profile, with tantalum grades reaching over 1,900 ppm in some intervals.

Pending Caesium Assays and Next Steps

While lithium and tantalum results are now fully reported, assay results for caesium remain outstanding for 59 holes at CV13, with multiple samples triggering overlimit analyses. Caesium is a valuable critical mineral, and its confirmed presence could add significant value to the project. PMET’s geology team is actively integrating the 2025 data to refine geological models, with plans to update block models and deliver a revised economic study in the second half of 2026. Concurrently, permitting is underway for an underground bulk sample at CV5, a key step toward advancing development.

Strategic Positioning in Critical Minerals

Shaakichiuwaanaan hosts one of the largest lithium pegmatite resources in the Americas and ranks among the top globally. The project’s proximity to infrastructure and year-round road access enhances its development potential. PMET’s recent lithium-only feasibility study for CV5 outlined a competitive, high-grade spodumene concentrate operation, positioning the company as a potential North American critical mineral powerhouse. The addition of tantalum and caesium resources further diversifies the project’s commodity base, aligning with growing demand for battery and technology metals.

Bottom Line?

With record lithium grades and a new discovery under its belt, PMET Resources is poised for a pivotal 2026 as it advances Shaakichiuwaanaan toward production.

Questions in the middle?

  • How will the pending caesium assay results impact the overall resource and project economics?
  • What are the timelines and scale expectations for the upcoming underground bulk sampling at CV5?
  • How might evolving lithium market dynamics influence PMET’s development strategy for Shaakichiuwaanaan?
