Exploration Steps Up at Gidji JV

Miramar Resources Limited has initiated reverse circulation (RC) drilling at its 80%-owned Gidji JV Gold Project, situated just 15 kilometres north of the established mining hub of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. This marks the company’s first major drilling program for 2026, focusing on the high-priority Blackfriars and Highway prospects.

These prospects have previously yielded encouraging results from shallow aircore drilling, revealing extensive supergene gold anomalies over roughly one kilometre stretches at each site. However, until now, no bedrock drilling has been conducted beneath the Gidji Paleochannel, leaving the primary sources of these gold anomalies untested.

Targeting Deeper Gold Deposits

The current drilling campaign plans to complete 10 to 12 RC holes, aiming for depths up to 250 metres and a total of approximately 2500 to 3000 metres drilled. This deeper exploration is designed to identify substantial bedrock gold deposits that could underpin a new gold camp in the region.

Blackfriars, located along the Boorara Shear Zone, has already demonstrated promising geology with aircore results including multiple gold grades exceeding 1 gram per tonne and a standout intercept of 1 metre at 11.79 grams per tonne gold. Meanwhile, Highway has shown a strong aircore anomaly overlying geophysical features suggestive of an intrusive body, but it has yet to be tested by RC drilling.

The Gidji JV Project benefits from its proximity to Kalgoorlie, a major centre for gold mining and processing, surrounded by established infrastructure and multiple operating mines. This strategic location enhances the commercial viability of any discoveries, offering multiple pathways to monetisation.

Miramar’s Managing Director, Marion Bush, emphasised the significance of starting the year with an aggressive drilling program, highlighting the potential to uncover large deposits in a region that has been underexplored due to geological cover. With gold prices continuing to reach new highs, the timing could be advantageous for Miramar and its shareholders.
