Gateway’s Exploration Surge Raises Stakes Amid Unassayed Nugget Discoveries

Mining By Maxwell Dee 3 min read

Gateway Mining has identified multiple large-scale gold targets across its Yandal projects, accelerating drilling programs backed by a strong capital position. New gold nugget discoveries and extensive geochemical anomalies highlight promising exploration momentum.

  • 4,600m diamond and 44,000m aircore drilling underway
  • 11.5km gold-in-soil anomaly at Great Western Splay Corridor
  • Over 300 gold nuggets recovered from new target zones
  • Completed $22.5m capital raising, ending quarter with $28.67m cash and securities
  • New geophysical surveys and historic data reviews advancing multiple projects

Exploration Momentum Builds at Yandal

Gateway Mining Ltd has reported a significant step-up in exploration activity across its Yandal Gold Project during the December 2025 quarter. The company commenced a substantial 4,600-metre diamond drilling program alongside a 44,000-metre aircore drilling campaign, targeting multiple newly delineated gold zones. These efforts are underpinned by recent geophysical and geochemical work that has expanded the known mineralised strike by an additional 90 kilometres along key shear zones.

At the heart of this exploration surge is the Great Western Splay Corridor, where soil sampling has revealed a coherent 11.5-kilometre gold-in-soil anomaly with peak values reaching 500 parts per billion. This anomaly aligns with a major intrusive contact and complex structural settings, hallmark features of prolific gold camps in the Eastern Goldfields region. The near-surface nature of this system, with minimal cover, makes it particularly attractive for upcoming drilling.

Gold Nuggets Reinforce Prospectivity

Adding to the excitement, Gateway has recovered over 300 gold nuggets from new areas within the Great Western corridor. These nuggets, ranging up to 3 grams each, were found near surface and cluster around structurally significant zones such as the dilation zone and contacts with dolerite intrusions. While these visual estimates await assay confirmation, their presence strongly supports the geological model that late-stage intrusions have created favourable conditions for high-grade mineralisation.

Expanding Targets Along Mustang and Dusk ‘til Dawn

Beyond Great Western, Gateway’s aircore drilling along the Mustang Shear Zone has identified multiple gold targets associated with flexures around intrusive bodies. Early assay results highlight stacked mineralised lodes open along strike, with mineralisation hosted at key contacts between volcanic and intrusive units. The company plans to extend drilling to cover the entire 22-kilometre strike length of Mustang, aiming to refine targets for follow-up reverse circulation and diamond drilling.

Meanwhile, induced polarisation surveys at the Dusk ‘til Dawn Gold Camp have mapped alteration and sulphide zones along a 12-kilometre anomalous trend, setting the stage for targeted drill testing in 2026. These geophysical insights complement the broader structural complexity Gateway is uncovering across its Yandal tenure.

Well-Funded for Aggressive Exploration

Gateway’s exploration push is supported by a robust financial position following a $22.5 million capital raising completed during the quarter. The company ended December with approximately $19.4 million in cash and an additional $9.3 million in liquid ASX-listed securities. Exploration expenditure for the quarter was $2.95 million, focused on Yandal, Glenburgh South, Montague Range, and Barrelmaker projects. No mining production activities were reported during the period.

Additional initiatives include a high-resolution airborne magnetic survey at Glenburgh South to map structural trends and alteration zones, and a review of historic data with bottom-of-hole sampling planned at Montague Range and Barrelmaker. These efforts aim to refine drill targets and unlock value across Gateway’s extensive Western Australian portfolio.

Bottom Line?

Gateway’s aggressive exploration and strong funding position set the stage for potentially transformative gold discoveries in 2026.

Questions in the middle?

  • Will upcoming assay results confirm the high-grade potential suggested by gold nugget recoveries?
  • How will Gateway prioritise drilling across its multiple large-scale targets in the coming year?
  • What impact will the expanded Mustang Shear Zone drilling have on the company’s resource estimates?
